NOAA designates Mallows Bay National Marine Sanctuary in Maryland
NOAA, the State of Maryland and Charles County today (July 9) announced the designation of a new national marine sanctuary to protect the remains of more than 100 abandoned steamships and vessels built as part of America’s engagement in World War I.

Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship
It’s an exciting new fellowship program for graduate students at the national estuarine research reserves. One two-year fellowship opportunity will be available at each of the 29 coastal sites.
Through a research project, fellows will address a key coastal management question to help scientists and communities understand coastal challenges that may influence future policy and management strategies.

EPA Releases Cyanobacteria Assessment Network (CyAN) Mobile Application in the Google Play™ Store
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the Cyanobacteria Assessment Network (CyAN) mobile application (app), a tool that uses satellite data to alert users that a harmful algal bloom could be forming based on specific changes in the color of the water in more than 2,000 of the largest lakes and reservoirs across the United States.
