On September 1st CSP joined Dr. Lincoln Luk in filing suit against LA Care for their policy change to deny payment for the professional component of clinical pathology services for their Medi-Cal beneficiaries. LA Care made the policy change to deny recognition of payment for that service on 10/1/21. CSP engaged in discussions with LA Care over the next year to urge them to reverse that policy and compensate hospital based pathologists for these essential patient services and covered Medi-Cal benefit.
The complaint filed in LA Superior Court seeks both declaratory and injunctive relief as well as attorney’s fees. (Here is a copy of the complaint). The CSP Pathology Defense Fund is providing financial support for the litigation and if you have not yet contributed to this fund please consider a contribution.
