In February, we recognize Black History Month, celebrate Valentine’s Day, raise awareness about anti-bullying with Pink Shirt Day and we enter into the Lenten Season.
In Lent, we are called to become better versions of ourselves through acts of charity and service or by giving up the things that tempt us. To begin the Lenten season, we celebrated Shrove Tuesday on February 21, Ash Wednesday on February 22 and we will be celebrating The First Sunday of Lent on February 26. The Lenten Season lasts 40 days as we ultimately prepare for Easter, where we celebrate the resurrection of Christ.
********
Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.
Amen.

During these winter months it is time to start planning for the next school year and programs for your Student(s) for the Summer.
Last month at our meeting we had a presentation on Specialized Pathways that our School Board has to offer. To help Students receive their Secondary Diploma, Secondary Certificate or their Certificate of Accomplishment, one of these pathway ways might be beneficial to their achievement.
Descriptions of the Focus Program, Co-operative Education (Co-op), Dual Credit Program, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) and Special High Skills Major (SHSM) can be found here: https://www.ocsb.ca/our-schools/high-school/programs-courses. We also recommend you reach out to your Students' Guidance Counselor for more information. Many of these programs can help prepare our exceptional Students for success post Secondary School.

Did you know that 88 different countries share the common language of French? Can you guess what the estimated number of French speakers world-wide? There are over 300 million French speakers across five continents who, together, make up la Francophonie.
During March, and in recognition of International Francophonie Day on March 20th, the OCSB joins this vibrant community in celebrating the French language and Francophone culture.
In Canada, with over 38 million people, French is the first official language spoken by 22.8% of the population. Almost 10.4 million Canadians can carry on a conversation in French. C’est génial!
OCSB invites you and your family to explore la Francophonie by participating in these activities:

OSTA and a core group of operators have joined forces to work on solutions to address the school bus driver shortage and prepare for the upcoming school year.
This spring, OSTA and operators Roxborough, Voyago, M.L. Bradley, First Student and Premier formed a Driver Recruitment Task Force to recruit new professional school bus drivers into the industry.
This new task force is the first of its kind in Ontario, whose members will work together to reach the ultimate goal of getting our kids safely and reliably to and from school every day.
