RECOGNITION AND PUBLICATIONS
Yachi (Christie) Lee, English and Biology '22, has been named as CSSH’s recipient of the annual Northeastern Compass Award. The Compass Awards Program recognizes exemplary students from the senior class who, during their time on campus, have demonstrated a true dedication to a core set of values: leadership, volunteerism, academic integrity, and commitment to Northeastern.
Risa Kitagawa, Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Affairs, has published "The Logic of Transitional Justice and State Repression: The Effects of Human Rights Prosecutions in Post-Conflict States" in the Journal of Conflict Resolution. The article examines how trials addressing wartime acts could reduce repression, but not in ways that most human rights practitioners might hope.

Briony Swire-Thompson, Director of the Psychology of Misinformation Lab, will discuss a study examining the mechanisms of belief regression, and whether corrected misinformation suffers more from belief regression than affirmed facts.

This event is part of the Speaker Series on Misinformation, co-sponsored by the Shorenstein Center for Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard's Kennedy School and the NULab at Northeastern University.

Caffè Italiano is an intercultural language exchange event that takes place weekly on the Boston campus. Italian teaching faculty and students gather to practice speaking Italian using games and other fun activities to develop conversation skills and to learn about Italian culture. The idea is to practice with both native and non-native speakers of the language, to socialize and learn about our multicultural students.
