Apply for Undergraduate Research Initiative funds for Fall 2023—Deadline extended to August 22!


The Undergraduate Research Initiative (URI) encourages undergraduate students in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities to carry out research or creative activities in collaboration with, or under the supervision of, faculty members with relevant expertise. Recipients will conduct research in collaboration with or under the supervision of a faculty member, who may be from any appropriate department, school, or college of the University.

Co-edited by Mya Poe, Associate Professor of English, the journal has six new writing studies articles, each with a wide interdisciplinary and international appeal. This issue's diverse array of topics—from an ethnographic study in Mexico City to an examination of youth autonomy in writing—are powerful additions to the field.

RECOGNITION AND PUBLICATIONS

Cassie McMillan, Assistant Professor of Sociology & Criminology, and Brandon Craig, PhD Candidate in Criminology & Justice Policy, recently published "Adolescent friendship, cross-sexuality ties, and attitudes toward sexual minorities: A social network approach to intergroup contact" in Social Science Research.

Thomas Barnay, Visiting Professor in Economics, recently published "Working conditions and disabilities in French workers: a career-long retrospective study" in the academic journal LABOUR: Review of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations.
