Briony Swire-Thompson, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Psychology, will present an overview of novel research being conducted in her lab. She will discuss a decade misinformation research and present empirical work on how people respond to corrections of misinformation from politicians and doctors and whether we can boost trust in legitimate sources of information.

NULab Spring Conference 2026

Join us for the ninth annual NULab spring conference, featuring talks by Northeastern faculty, staff, students, and collaborators about their work in computational social science and digital humanities. This year's theme is "Collective Persistence," and the conference will include a diverse set of interdisciplinary presentations on topics including digital archiving, oral history, network analysis, Indigenous language preservation, ethical applications of AI, and more.

Carla Kaplan, Davis Distinguished Professor of American Literature and Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, has received the 2026 Goldsmith Trade Book Award from the Harvard Kennedy School's Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy for her biography, Troublemaker: The Fierce, Unruly Life of Jessica Mitford.

Kris Manjapra, Stearns Trustee Professor of History and Global Studies, has been named to the 101st class of Guggenheim Fellows from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.

Nishith Prakash, Professor of Public Policy and Economics, has been elected to the Board of Director of the International Development Economics Association, the first global professional association dedicated to development economics.

Damon Hall, Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Public Policy and Director of MS Environmental Science and Policy Program, has co-authored "Implementing nature-based solutions requires distinguishing place from space" in Ambio: A Journal of Environment and Society and "Reviewing the Levee Effect: From Theory to Practice" in the Journal of Flood Risk Management.
