The Resilience Studies Program hosts a speaker series annually. This session is Deliberating Energy Policy: Environmental Civil Society Organizations and Their Engagement in Post-Fukushima Japan, led by Pinar Temocin of the University of Tokyo, Japan. She is currently a non-residential visiting fellow at the Sigur Center for Asian Studies, Elliott School of International Affairs, at George Washington University.

The Way We Were: Roxbury Black Wall Street 1900-1965

The Reckonings Project invites community members to explore the rich legacy of Roxbury’s Black Wall Street through a series of research presentations, oral histories, and performances to celebrate Black entrepreneurship, art, culture and history. The event was envisioned, curated and planned by Marie Firmin, CEO & President of BlackBiz Development Group LLC.

Amílcar Barreto, Professor, Cultures, Societies, and Global Studies; International Affairs; and Political Science, has published "Race, worthiness and attenuated citizenship: Puerto Ricans in the post-Cold War era" in National Identities.

Call for Proposals from Faculty and Staff: Love Data Week 2026

Northeastern's Data Literacy Program invites all faculty and staff to share their expertise and passion with the Northeastern community through engaging presentations and hands-on sessions. Love Data Week 2026 (February 9-13, 2026) is seeking proposals for presentations, workshops, or training sessions on any data-related topic that will educate and inspire the Northeastern community. Standard sessions are 30 or 50 minutes, but proposals for "extended" sessions up to two hours long (such as intensive workshops) are welcome if the topic requires extended time for hands-on learning, in-depth exploration, or more than one session.

Diverse formats are encouraged, including presentations, interactive demonstrations, case studies, hands-on trainings, panel discussions, or storytelling sessions. Faculty and staff interested in learning more can visit Love Data Week 2026's website; proposals are due by October 15.
