National Computer Science Education Week:

December 8-14, 2025

CS Ed Week is here! This annual celebration is a nationwide call to action to inspire K–12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity, and recognize the contributions of students, teachers, and partners in the field.

Celebrate diverse voices in computer science with the 2025 CS Heroes Poster series. Use these posters to spark discussions and inspire students—download templates and lesson materials to create your own CS Hero posters for your classroom or hallway.

This year’s theme, “CS Powers AI Innovation,” highlights how foundational computer science skills are essential for understanding and shaping the future of artificial intelligence. As AI rapidly transforms our

world, it’s more important than ever to equip students with computational thinking and problem-solving skills so they can lead in AI development and create impactful solutions for the future.

So this year, to celebrate CS Ed Week, schools around the country will be doing an “Hour of AI” in place of an Hour of Code to help students and educators everywhere take their first steps in understanding and creating with AI.

Let us know how you’re celebrating CS Ed Week! Post your activities, photos, and stories in the CSTA WA Discussion group and join the conversation with educators across the state.

Meet Our Washington State CSTA Fellows

We’re thrilled to highlight the achievements of our Washington educators in the CSTA IMPACT and Responsible AI Fellows programs:

IMPACT Fellows: Congratulations to our very own CSTA WA member Anthony Barba, a 9-12 STEM Teacher at East Valley High School (Moxee, WA)! This prestigious, year-long leadership program recognizes educators who are making a measurable impact on CS education. Fellows design and implement projects that promote equity, access, and engagement in CS for all students. Meet the 2025–26 cohort and learn how you can nominate yourself or a colleague for next year’s program.

Responsible AI Fellows: Congratulations to our very own Denise Thompson, a 9-12 CTE and CS Teacher at Orting High School (Lakewood, WA). The inaugural Responsible AI Fellowship brings together educators committed to teaching ethical, inclusive, and transformative approaches to AI. Fellows receive leadership training and collaborate on projects that advance responsible AI education.
