Executive director of CSUSB Nursing Street Medicine Program receives award


Diane Vines, executive director of the CSUSB Nursing Street Medicine Program at the Palm Desert Campus, was recognized for her work by the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation at the annual Palm Springs Health Run and Wellness Festival on Jan. 25.


The CSUSB Nursing Street Medicine Program has been a grantee and longtime community partner of the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation, the presenting sponsor of the event.

Alumni Spotlight

Brianna Uhlhorn


Please join us in congratulating PDC alumna Brianna Uhlhorn, who was honored at the Women of Wonder luncheon on Jan. 31 for her contributions to children and the advancement of child development.


The luncheon, hosted by Variety Children's Charity of the Desert, honors local women leaders who make a meaningful impact in the lives of Coachella Valley children,


Brianna earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at PDC in 2008, followed by a master's degree in psychology with a concentration in child development, at CSUSB in 2010.

NBC Palm Springs


In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a group of CSUSB students and staff volunteered at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission on Jan. 22, where they worked to revitalize the grounds of the mission.


After their sidewalk project was completed, they took a tour of CVRM, learning about the various services that are offered to residents such as housing, free meals, counseling, job training and Bible study.


This service project was made possible by a grant from Lead California and AmeriCorps.

Telemundo 15 Palm Springs


Telemundo 15 Palm Springs interviewed Melissa Guerra, the CSUSB director of Outreach and Student Recruitment, on their Spanish-language newscast on Jan. 23, where she discussed the direct admit program for eligible students at every public high school in Riverside County as well as the CSUSB admissions process.

Recent Events

Parent Leadership Conference


The Parent Leadership Conference, co-hosted by the Riverside County Office of Education Migrant Education Program (Region 7) and the CSUSB College Assistance Migrant Program, took place on Jan. 25 at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus.


The event's theme was "Knowledge is power: Don't let obstacles limit your success." It featured workshops covering topics such as financial aid for college, understanding rights, and exploring educational and career opportunities beyond high school. Attendees had access to resources from programs like the Migrant Education Program (MEP), CSUSB's High School Equivalency Program (HEP), OneFuture Coachella Valley, TODEC Legal Center, and others.

Coachella Valley Firebirds game


Students at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus have so many great opportunities to participate in fun and exciting activities outside the classroom.


On Jan. 29, after a tailgate party on campus where they created signs to support the Coachella Valley Firebirds and enjoyed pizza and drinks, they headed across the freeway to the Acrisure Arena for a Coachella Valley Firebirds game - and guest what - the Firebirds beat the Abbotsford Canucks 5-2!


What a great game! Go Firebirds!
