We're entering a season focused on family, friends, community, and getting festive. But the season for gift giving is also the time for giving. So, this holiday season, the
Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) asks you to spread the holiday cheer by giving back!
Give the gift of reading and donate a book to our
4th Annual Little One Holiday Book Drive. Each holiday season we are committed to helping our children who have experienced or witnessed violence cope through promoting cultural connections and storytelling.
Give the gift of support by helping CSVANW reach its
Year-End Giving
Goal: $10,000 to continue our efforts and commitment to breaking cycles of violence through education, policy advocacy, technical assistance, community support, and social change in 2019.
So, as you plan to give back this holiday season we want to let you know that we do not take it for granted that our work would not be possible without supporters and donors like you. We look forward to continuing to build space for community in 2019 and beyond.
Help spread the holiday cheer of giving back by sharing our
Little One Holiday Book Drive and our
Year-End Giving on your social media platforms and encourage family, friends, and others to give back this holiday season!

Books Provided a Sense of Normalcy
For most kids, Friday marks the beginning of two days off from school…two full days of playing, laughing and being
kids
.
That wasn’t always the case for my sisters and me. Friday often marked the beginning of anxiety and fear. On Friday afternoons, questions weighed heavy on mind…
What did this weekend have in store for us?
Would dad get drunk and come home Friday night? Or would it be in the early hours Saturday morning? Where would we hide this time?

A Look Back in the Rearview Mirror of 2018
Deleana OtherBull, CSVANW Executive Director
As our winter ceremonies begin, we recently saw our first snowfall in Albuquerque. A dusting of much-needed moisture, renewal, and healing.
As CSVANW starts to wind down its year, our team is taking a look back in the rearview mirror of 2018. This year brought gratitude. Together, we did more.

Working with Native Youth
Casey Long
My name is Casey Long, and I am the youngest of the six children my parents raised in Gallup, NM. I currently work for a nonprofit called Community Outreach and Patient Empowerment (COPE) and recently been accepted to Grand Canyon University for my Masters in Public Health. Looking back on my upbringing, I am thankful for my parents; they have taught my siblings and myself many valuable lessons that we still hold close to our hearts and they’ve sacrificed almost everything to ensure happiness for us.

Little One Holiday Book Drive
Each December, the Little One Book Drive connects with children who, through no fault of their own, find themselves spending their holidays in a shelter due to domestic violence. Since we began, CSVANW and our community donors have generated more than 700 new Native American themed books for shelters throughout New Mexico.
|
So we invite you once again, to join us in building a stronger community for our little ones—donate today.
