Navigating the Transitions of Our Youth

Transitioning from youth to adulthood is a thrilling, yet challenging ride—full of twists, turns, and uncharted paths. In this dynamic and interactive session, we’ll dive into the journeys of transitioning youth, exploring the obstacles they face, the opportunities they can seize, and the incredible resilience they show along the way. From navigating education and career pathways to building self-confidence and independence, we'll unpack the strategies that help youth take the wheel and drive their future forward. Expect inspiring stories, practical tools, and fun discussions that shine a light on how mentors, educators, and communities can make a real difference in supporting these young individuals. Through activities, real-life examples, and thought-provoking discussions, we'll work together to create a roadmap that fosters empowerment, resilience, and success. NEW: Virtual Site Visit

Deer River Community Schools, nestled in the heart of northern Minnesota, is a diverse and vibrant rural Community School. Located on the edge of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Reservation, the district plays a crucial role in supporting a student body where nearly half are Native American.

With two main buildings serving students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12, Deer River Schools are dedicated to fostering an environment of inclusivity, academic excellence, and community support. Beyond education, the district has cultivated strong partnerships and relationships that help remove barriers to learning, ensuring that every student has access to the resources and support they need to thrive. Through their commitment to both educational and cultural enrichment, Deer River Schools are not only shaping the future of their students but also serving as a hub for families to connect with vital resources.

This site visit will be hybrid as Deer River Schools are 200 miles north of Minneapolis. Attendees will participate in a virtual visit of Deer Park Schools and then will spend time with staff showcasing the partnerships and relationships that have reduced barriers to learning for our students.
