We are pleased to announce that on March 12, 2020, Governor Lamont signed House Bill No. 5518 that authorizes $30M and $17M for the brownfield program for fiscal years 2020 and 2021, respectively. The next step is for the State Bond Commission (SBC) to approve the allocation of the authorized funds so that the funds can be released competitively for grants and loans as per the enabling statutes ( C.G.S. Chapter 588gg ).

DECD would like to take the opportunity to update all potential applicants about the new prevailing wage rule that will apply to all projects funded by DECD ( see C.G.S Section 31-53c ) if the DECD funding is $1M or more. Per the law, any project that receives $1M or more of DECD funding will have to apply prevailing wages to the entire project cost, which includes the redevelopment or reuse costs as well.

To help us gauge the number of potential applications that we may receive when the NOFA is announced, we encourage you to fill out this simple Survey . Please note this is strictly voluntary—those opting not to participate in the survey are NOT precluded from applying when the formal Notice of Funding is released.
