It is with our deepest sympathies that we mourn the loss of our longtime Board Chair and a true Cass Tech legend, Lawrence "Larry" Patrick, Jr. 

Larry, who contributed a lifetime of dedicated service, leadership and financial support to the growth of Cass Tech and to the CTAA, was a proud 1963 Chemical Biological graduate of Cass Tech. 

He was a tireless advocate for our alma mater and  the impactful legacy he left will always live on. The CTAA will publish a special memorial message honoring Larry shortly. In the meantime, our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the Patrick family. The family has issued the following press release, which includes details about arrangements:

Attorney Lawrence C. Patrick, Jr. Passes Away
 
Detroit, MI -The Patrick Family is deeply saddened to inform you Attorney Lawrence "Larry" C. Patrick, Jr. died on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 1:00 a.m., at the age of 71, after a brief illness. 
 
Attorney Patrick was the former President of the Detroit Board of Education, where he served from 1989 to 1995.   In addition to the Detroit Public School District, he represented numerous other districts over the years including the Mount Clemens School District, the Inkster School District, the Highland Park School District and the Ecorse School District.  In the area of Public School Academies, he represented more than three dozen charter schools in Michigan, Florida and New York.  
 
"It is with extremely heavy hearts, we announce that our family's patriarch, servant, leader, visionary, mentor and friend made his transition.  As many of you know, he worked diligently to build a legacy of service, unity and education," said the Patrick Family.  
 
"While, we mourn his physical transition, we celebrate his indelible legacy.  Since he lived a life of integrity and excellence, we are confident his death was peaceful," concluded the Patrick Family.
