How to Improve the Efficiency, Capacity and Reliability of the Grid with ACCC Conductor

CTC Global's Jim Clyde Shares the ACCC Efficiency Message at The Road from Paris to Transformation Conference in Washington, D.C.

Earlier this month, Jim Clyde, CTC Global's Vice President of Business Development for the Americas participated in the highly anticipated panel discussion sponsored by Dentons and the World Resources Institute "The Road from Paris to Transformation - Insights on climate change finance from public to private institutions."
 
Jim offered substantial insight to his fellow panelists as to how high performance ACCC transmission conductors can improve efficiency and help utilities and investors reach CO2 reduction and energy efficiency objectives. This message supports the growing realization that improving energy efficiency is one of the most cost-effective methods for reducing the carbon intensity of the global economy.   
 
The panel discussion focused on ways climate finance can be used to catalyze the necessary transformational change to address the urgent challenge of climate change.
 
Representatives from the Green Climate Fund, Deutsche Bank, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and many other representatives from other associations, institutions and agencies were in attendance.

Sterlite Completes it 18th ACCC Installation in India

In last 12 months, Sterlite has installed over 250 circuit kilometers of ACCC for utilities in Maharashtra, West Bengal, Goa, Delhi, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. An additional 260 circuit km of lines are in the process of being upgraded with ACCC conductor across a number of Indian states.
 
The most recent projects completed include the WBSETCL 132 kV D/C Durgapur to Ukhra Line; the WBSETCL 132 kV D/C Berhampore to Gokarna Line; the GED 110 kV D/C Tivim to Ponda Line; and the GED 110 kV Palsarem to Kadamba line.
 
Though each project had its own unique challenges, a few notable highlights include: The Durgapur - Ukhra line was completed in a record 54 days in spite of several challenges that included a 400kV line crossing and an outage window of only 3 hours per day for nearly three weeks; The Berhampore - Gokarna line was also completed amidst various challenges which included a 787 meter (~2,600 ft) span over the Ganga river; Additionally, two Goa Electricity Department lines were upgraded with ACCC in very difficult and essentially inaccessible terrain conditions that ranged from steep and rugged mountain terrain to backwater swamps waters infested with crocodiles.
 
To accommodate these challenges, Sterlite deployed helicopters to ferry equipment and linesmen to various locations. This landmark project improved circuit reliability to 99.5%.
