"Tech Talk: What Are Our Students Missing?"

October 30th - Workshop #352891

As technology becomes more deeply woven into students’ lives, it’s important to ask: What might they be missing?

This collaborative workshop invites middle school educators to reflect on how digital tools and constant connectivity may be impacting students’ attention, communication skills, creativity, and emotional development.

Through open dialogue and shared experiences, participants will explore the trade-offs of tech used both in and out of the classroom and consider how we can help students find a healthier, more balanced relationship with technology.

By the end of this session, educators will leave with practical strategies and actionable insights to better support their students in navigating the digital landscape.

Led by: Master Teacher Sharon Hornsby

Sharon Hornsby is an experienced educator with 16 years of teaching experience. Currently teaching 8th grade Web Communications at Henderson Middle School, she is passionate about helping students navigate the digital landscape.

Sharon brings a wealth of knowledge and a thoughtful approach to addressing the effects of technology on student development. She believes:

“We always need to give our best because our best is all we have to give.”

"Cosmetology & Barbering: Best Practices for Engagement, Organization and Student Success"

October 30th - Workshop# 353053

Cosmetology and Barbering programs prepare students with valuable skills for real-world careers, but managing these courses can feel complex. This session offers practical strategies to increase student engagement, improve performance, and strengthen program organization.

Participants will also explore curriculum resources, discover tips for preparing students for certifications and careers, and connect with fellow educators for support and collaboration.

Whether you are building your program or refining your approach, this workshop will provide tools and inspiration to elevate student success.
