“Blessed to be a Blessing”
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)
The enemy is trying to tempt you and me to give in to fear. The stories of the pandemic, the news about the economy, the very different challenges which we face can feel overwhelming. It is normal to feel unsettled, uncertain and afraid.
God has given us every spiritual blessing in Christ.
God invites us to trust him when we are afraid.
God invites us to remember that we are blessed to be a blessing.
The apostle Paul was inspired to write: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7
The enemy wants us to be filled with a spirit of fear and timidity.
God has given us a spirit of power – we believe in the God who raised Jesus from the dead (that is real power!)
God has given us a spirit of love – we love because he first loved us (that is real love!)
God has given us a spirit of self-discipline – we hear the words of Jesus and the Holy Spirit helps us to do what Jesus says (that is true discipline /discipleship).
We are blessed to be a blessing!
Almighty God, thank you that you have called me into your family through my baptism. Thank you that you daily give me your Holy Spirit which results in a different way of living. Thank you that I can bring all my cares and concerns to you. Please give me a sense of your peace and your presence this day. Amen.
ask God if there is someone he wants you to encourage today.
