Dear CTK School Families,
We have been asked to share updates from the CTK Festival Committee, as we transition to a new year. A couple of weeks ago, several of our long-time committee leaders met with Mr. Silveira and Father Paulson to discuss the future of festival. The school and parish continue to support festival as an important community-building event. Once our planning resumes in the fall, we look forward to sharing more information about the 2020 spring festival.
We are happy to announce that Christina and Tim Francis have agreed to lead our festival planning efforts next year. Please join us in thanking Christina and Tim and welcoming them as the new committee chairs! Both Christina and Tim have many years of experience leading several parts of festival. Many of you know that Tim has been creator of our showpiece designs above the gym, including the fiery tiki statues and the smoke-breathing dragon.
We have also been asked to provide an update on the festival finances for this year, with the cancellation. While we obviously did not make our normal profit on the event, I am very happy to say that we minimized the losses due to contract cancellations and other already-made expenditures. In total, we lost only $2500 this year, which is thanks to the diligent efforts of our committee to get full or partial refunds on all expenditures, but also because of the continued generosity of several festival sponsors as well as profit we made from t-shirt sales, Country Store, and Starbooks.
Finally, we wanted to thank all of you, the CTK school and parish community, for the outpouring of support we received as the festival chairs these past two years. Despite some challenges, it has been an uplifting and heartwarming experience.
