Christ the King School Newsletter - May 14, 2019
Dear Christ the King Families,

A very special blessing and congratulations to our second grade First Holy Communicants and their families. Today’s mass and celebration represented the innocence, grace, and love of the Holy Eucharist in our children’s lives and our lives, too. A little poem that I found and read to our second graders after mass, really captures the faith, hope, and love of our sacraments and it’s sacred influence to our lives:

Remember how He broke the loaf made from golden wheat,
And said, “This is My Body. Take this bread and eat.”
Remember how the sun-ripe grapes taken from the vine
Became a cup of blessing, “Take and drink this wine.”
Remember how a cross of wood became a symbol of
Christ’s giving of himself to us, the greatest kind of love.
Remember Jesus’ love for you today as you receive His
Bread of life, His cup of grace….
Remember and believe!

Abundant blessings,

Joe Silveira
Principal
Christ the King School

First Grade Meet the Author Night
"I just wanted to say what a truly awesome event the first graders had last evening.  Mrs. Karst and Mrs. McDonagh deserve tremendous thanks and praise for a brilliant idea and their thoughtful work and dedication to pull together a very special Meet the Author Night that I hope will become one of our cherished CTK traditions!

The teachers have been collecting the students’ writing throughout the school year - with special pieces pulled together in a small book to show their progression.  They used the students’ privacy boards to create displays - including “About the Author” pages written by the students to accompany their pictures.  There were special pages personalized for each child for their visitors that evening to leave notes and each visitor had an “autograph page” to ask the students to autograph.  The evening started with a visit with your own child and then the parents and other family and friends were encouraged to circulate and meet other “authors.”  It was so amazing to see the children shine while talking to so many different adults about themselves and their work.  There was even a little area for the little siblings to color or hear stories from Mrs. Karst’s daughters so the parents could focus on the first graders! I’m even tearing up now as I write this!  They were so very proud, all while learning important communication skills and poise.  It was truly truly a beautiful, special event.

I am attaching some photos I took of the event.  I just wanted to share this special event and the important and awesome work being done by our stellar first grade teaching team!  We all love them so much and will miss them as we move up next year.  I only hope that they, and this special event, carrying on for at least another four years for little Bridget to experience!
