Christ the King School Newsletter - October 2, 2018
Dear Christ the King School Families,

Special Time of the Year
We welcome autumn and the month of October as a time for renewal and reflection. This special month holds significance in our faith as we lean toward the Holy Mother and our Holy Rosary as a reminder of the promises and fulfilled petitions that God so lovingly presents.  Together, we have accomplished great things in a very short amount of time. The Msgr. Wade Golf Tournament and annual Walk-a-Jog-a-Thon were both great successes for our school’s support measures and greater programming.  With immense gratitude, we count our blessings as Heidi Nuti and her team of volunteers, Leo Lopoz/Dalton Brown and their team of volunteers led the way with great faith, generosity, and commitment.

Conference Week
Our faculty and staff have been hard at work preparing for this week’s conferences. There will be no school on Thursday, October 4th and 5th to accommodate Parent/Teacher Conferences, and CTK Club will be closed during conference days as well. Students in Grades 4-8 will attend the conference(s) with their parent(s). We thank you in advance for shifting your busy schedules in support of our students, faculty, staff, and community. In addition, there will be no school on Monday, October 8th in observance of Columbus Day. Please enjoy the long weekend with family and friends.  May this special time provide relaxation, and renewed spirit.

Administrative Support Staff Update
Change is a part of life. It is always difficult to see someone move forward, but ultimately we support our faculty and staff in their decisions and wish them the greatest successes in life.  Jenny Barger, front office administrative assistant, has decided to accept a position, in marketing and communications, at St. Isidore School in Danville, California. The decision did not come easy for Jenny. I know she will continue to love and support CTK School as she looks forward to seeing everyone at school-wide/parish events and celebrating mass. Today, we send Jenny and her family many blessings.  We thank Jenny for her intrinsically kind heart, compassionate ways, and for a salient/creative/well-formatted weekly newsletter.

Garden of Blessing and Big Toy
A special thank you to Colleen Noland for organizing a work party for our Garden of Blessing this past Saturday.  Lots of initiatives/planning, educational experiences, and work are occurring in our garden space. We thank Colleen for her inventive spirit and stewardship to such a great learning opportunity.  In addition, the “Big Toy” playground chip was replenished, by Tom Sweeney and volunteers this past weekend, as well. Each day presents many opportunities to thank God for our awesome community!

Abundant blessing,

Joe Silveira
Principal

3rd Grade with Mrs. Sihler is a CTK tradition! Our wonderful
Mrs. Sihler has been sharing her time and talents with the third grade class at CTK for 39 years! Over those 39 years she has helped over 1,400 students grow and learn, some of those students now have children going here. Thank you Mrs. Sihler for loving CTK!
The Class of 2019's Day at the Cathedral:
On Wednesday, September 26th our 8th grade class celebrated Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland. It was a wonderful opportunity to see the Bishop serve Mass and spend time with other 8th grade classes from local Catholic Schools.
Box Tops
It's time to turn in those Box Tops! For those of you who are not familiar with Box Tops... Look for this type of image on hundreds of General Mills products throughout the grocery store and your pantry, clip them (as close to the edge of the label as possible) and turn them to the school!  Some examples of the brands you can find them on are: Cheerios, Wheaties, Chex Mix, Nature Valley Granola bars, Annie's organic products, and even Kleenex facial tissue!   Each box top clip is worth 10 cents for our school. ..it all adds up and it is free money for CTK! Not too much is free in today's world so let's take advantage of it. All it takes is a small bit of time and effort to clip and submit!!!

Our first Box Tops collection deadline is approaching, so please gather all your Box Tops and Labels for Education by  Friday, October 19th.  Submit them to your child's classroom or the front office. If your are turning them into the office, make sure to include your child's grade so the proper class gets the credit. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Cooper:    jenniferanne_cooper@yahoo.com .

Let's continue to support this great program that makes money for our school! If you miss this deadline, that's ok, keep collecting and turning them in! We collect them all year long. Happy clipping!
