Christ the King School Newsletter - October 23, 2018
Dear Christ the King School Families,

I believe community separates us from the rest of the group. Certainly, we have a rich culture and palpable climate that adds to our sense of community. When we dig deeper we lean toward our weekly mass, and our school’s mission statement that leads with faith, knowledge, and service. Our community truly inspires me!

Yesterday, our community celebrated and blessed our seventh grade students as they embarked with their talented and conscientious teacher, Mrs. Belz, for a weeklong adventure of learning and discovery at Camp Caritas in Occidental, California. To witness the whole school and parent community bid them a safe trip was truly powerful!

This week our eighth graders will participate in serving the disenfranchised of our greater community, via the Fishes and Loaves Program, in making/distributing lunches and providing hope to those most in need. Thursday, I am looking forward to being with our eighth grade group in the hills of Lafayette for their coveted eighth grade retreat. Ironically, my talk with our eighth graders will center upon the gifts and blessings of community.

Today, I am humbled and honored to be a member of our community! I thank each and every one of you for your imprint in my life and the lives of our students and each other. May God continue to bless our community with His unending love, providence, and ongoing compassion/care. May this special light surround our days with faith, hope, and love guiding our way and inspiring us all to the more in our lives.

Further, we genuinely thank and wish our fifth grade assistant Mrs. Ann Tomaselli, and her family, abundant blessings as she transitions from CTK to Saint Mary’s College as an assistant to the Vice President of Finance. Likewise, we welcome Mollie Callahan a very talented art teacher and a genuine and peaceful spirit as our new fifth grade assistant.

Lastly, we are very happy to announce that Mrs. Vickie Rubino has accepted the position as our new administrative assistant in our school’s front office. Vickie comes to us with a strong background in accounting principles and her sincere kindness and humble ways will continue to provide a welcoming spirit to our community.

Abundant blessings,

Joe Silveira

Did You Know?
CTK Students are making a difference for our environment! Our kids are learning simple ways they can help clean up our planet and send less trash to the landfills. They are starting by putting their used paper towels into our green compost cans which are located in all our classrooms and restrooms. They are learning that paper towels come from the earth and can return to the earth as soil. This is Step One for Operation Go Green! Be on the lookout for future announcements of our next steps. Before long, kids will be recycling and composting their snack and lunch waste, and saying goodbye to so much landfill waste! Go CTK!
Show your CTK spirit by purchasing CTK cooler bags, water bottles, cooling towels and camping chairs! Water bottles and cooling towels make great stocking stuffers and cooler bags are a great hostess gift. Thank you for your support! Please email your order to PTG at
