Christ the King School Newsletter - October 2, 2018
Dear Christ the King School Families,

At the latter part of this past week, I was blessed to be with fellow principals throughout the Oakland Diocese for the annual administrative conference/retreat in Santa Cruz, California. This time away provided reflection and renewal and offered me the opportunity to welcome and appreciate the goodness in our lives. Today, I thank God for each of you! I thank God for such an awesome community! In gratitude, I see countless acts of kindness, great intentions of the heart, and tremendous sacrifice/service in the greatest ministry of them all. As we continue to focus on our students as children of God, may we lean toward to words of Saint Mother Teresa, “Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.”

This morning Mrs. Heidi Nuti and her Walk a Jog a Thon Committee presented awards to our students as planned. As mentioned in our previous newsletter this life serving fundraiser was simply incredible as it raised tremendous funds for Camp Caritas and our school’s great programming needs. We are all so blessed and grateful for Heidi/team’s commitment, inventiveness, and immense giving.

Lastly, today we welcome and thank Ann Tomaselli in her new role as instructional assistant with Mrs. Krutilla and our 5th grade students.

Here’s to a great week as we thank God for His abundant blessings. God bless you all as we enjoy the freshness and immense change of Autumn,

Joe Silveira
Principal
Christ the King School

Notes from the Office
2018 School Directories: This year's school directory is going home today in your Family Envelope. The directory is for personal use by school families only. If you would like a second copy, it can be purchased at the school office for $5.

Walk A Jog A Thon Update: Students were recognized for fundraising achievements and laps (both by class) at the WAJAT Awards Ceremony during morning assembly today.   Congratulations to all of the students for doing their best and raising over $46,000 for the School!

Thank you to the amazing WAJAT team: Laura Abel, Mechele Cobo, Maureen Johansen, Andrea Nilsen, Jennifer Wilson and Sandy Wingard. Finance was run by Mary Williamson, thank you to her and her team for all of their hard work and time. We are grateful to Roy and Demi Marquez, and Carrie and Tim Rohrer, for their special efforts in helping us improve our systems and processes. Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered before, during and after the WAJAT. This event wouldn’t be successful without the tremendous support of our community.

This year one of the changes we made was to count the final lap using a more accurate method. Students were given a colored sticker which represented where they actually stopped at the ending time. We gave out fewer medals- most classes had just one bronze, one silver and one gold per girl and per boy in each class. Please share with your students that whether or not they received a medal, they all earned great kudos for their efforts. We witnessed several acts of kindness as well, especially older kids helping younger kids get water, find a teacher, and find their colored station.

Students will receive their fundraising prizes in the next couple of weeks.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Heidi Nuti at  hnuti@sbcglobal.net .
