Community Engagement (CE) Studios

Are you looking to strengthen the impact, clarity, and

community relevance of your research?

Our Community Engagement (CE) Studios offer a unique way for

CTSC Investigators to connect directly with community experts who

bring lived experience and professional insight to your project.

What are CE Studios?

CE Studios are 2-hour facilitated sessions that bring together 8–10 community experts to review your research project and offer feedback on study design, recruitment, communication materials, and how results might be shared or translated into practice.

Sessions can be held in person or virtually, and because they are consultative, no IRB approval is required.

Why Participate?

CE Studios help researchers:

  • Clarify study aims and refine project methods
  • Strengthen recruitment and engagement strategies
  • Identify opportunities and concerns you may not see alone
  • Build meaningful community–academic partnerships
  • Ensure your work is understandable, relevant, and responsive to the populations you serve

Overview

The CE Studio team guides you from start to finish—helping define your studio’s focus, develop a 1-page project overview and short presentation, recruit community experts, and prepare all logistics. After the session, you’ll receive a detailed written report with synthesized feedback and key themes to support next steps.

Funding Support

CE Studios are fully supported through the CTSC Voucher Program, which covers facilitation, expert compensation, preparation, and reporting. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
