Easter Eggstravaganza
Join Children’s Ministry for their annual Easter Eggstravaganza (egg hunt) following the 9 AM worship service on Easter Sunday, April 5. Keiki are invited to bring a basket and ‘hunt’ for eggs, then exchange their eggs for a goody bag!
Each egg collected will represent a monetary donation. This year, the donation will go toward local recovery and relief efforts following the storms that devastated many communities in Hawai‘i. Stay tuned for more information about this project which will continue throughout the Easter season until Pentecost.

Tell Me Something Good
Can we be "good news" people in a world too often burdened by bad news? You are invited to journey through this Lenten devotional at your own pace. Each week offers art, reflections, poetry, and hymns to ground you in the good news. May the good news inspire us to take action in a world desperate to hear, see, and taste what is good.
We'd love for you to use this beautiful devotional! You may contact the Church Office to request a hard copy OR to receive a link to the digital version which can be accessed via computer and mobile devices. (We are not sharing the link online in order to protect the work of the devotional creators, A Sanctified Art.)

Holy Humor Sunday
April 12, 2026
The Sunday after Easter, at all three worship services, we will celebrate Holy Humor Sunday, also known as Bright Sunday. The custom of Holy Humor Sunday is rooted in the musings of early church theologians (like Augustine, Gregory of Nyssa, and John Chrysostom) that God played a practical joke on the devil by raising Jesus from the dead. "Risus paschalis - the Easter laugh," the early theologians called it.
| | In worship, we will share jokes, sing funny hymns, and laugh! We encourage you to wear your brightest clothes and your funniest hats to church! Take photos and tag us on social media or send them to share@centralunionchurch.org. Bring your favorite (appropriate) jokes to share and you are also welcome to play practical jokes on the Minister! | | | | |

Pause on Donations
The Thrift Shop (Honolulu campus) will NOT be accepting any more donations until further notice. Many items have been donated around the turn of the year, but we don't have enough volunteers and space right now to sort and store all the donations. Please hold your donation items or offer them to another organization. Mahalo for remembering the Central Union Thrift Shop! We look forward to accepting more donations in the future.

As we commemorate Maundy Thursday and Good Friday this week, pray that our hearts and minds would be prepared for Easter.
Pray for our Easter celebrations and all who are involved in making it come together. May we remember the true meaning of Easter amidst all the things to do.
Pray for our children and youth.

Storm Response
Two back-to-back Kona low storms have devastated parts of Hawai‘i over the past two weeks, leaving many residents with the overwhelming tasks of cleanup and recovery. Read this week's Coconut Wireless newsletter for an update and see how the Hawai‘i Conference and the United Church of Christ are responding. While direct donations to affected families or to local organizations on the ground are most effective, we also invite you to contribute through our denomination's Hawaii Flood Appeal.
| | The response of the wider community has been crucial and tremendous. Our CUC ministries are working on ways to support and identifying needs and potential partners. Children's Ministry will direct their Easter giving efforts to storm relief. More info to come. | | |

Read in the Sunday worship service!
Sundays at 7 AM / 9 AM / 11 AM
Worship is one of the heartbeats of our church – it is the work of the whole church community in praising God, hearing God's word to us and responding in faith. One way to help each other in our worship is by reading scripture and other parts of our service. It enhances our experience of worship when we can have different faces and voices leading worship. If you are willing to read in a worship service, please join our pool of readers! Learn more and sign up by clicking HERE.

Volunteer with Community Ministry Next: April 14
Every second Tuesday, our small but dedicated team of volunteers prepares a hot meal to be delivered to shelters in the community. They are in need of extra help! If you're available around 2:00 – 4:30 to help cook, or a bit later to deliver in Waikiki, your support would be greatly appreciated! If you're available for any of the Tuesdays and would like to volunteer, let us know how/when you can help. Sharing the responsibilities will allow volunteers to take breaks. Text Laura at 808-221-0126.

Beware of Email Scams!
Scams come in many forms, whether it's someone impersonating church staff or even a member, or a stranger seeming to have a good deal for you on a special product or service. Please be cautious when checking emails! Know that church staff will never ask you to purchase something or give personal information by email. Often you can identify an email's authenticity by verifying the sender’s email address (CUC staff emails end with @centralunionchurch.org), but it's also possible for scammers to mimic email addresses. So if you receive any strange message at all and are ever in doubt, just delete it, don't reply or click on any links. You may call the church office (808-941-0957) to confirm.
