| | Heading to the Punahou Carnival this Friday/Saturday? Come park on our campus and support our youth while you’re at it! The cost is $20 per vehicle (cash only). Vehicles should enter via Punahou Street and may stay parked for the entire day, with in and out privileges. Parking spots will not be saved, drivers must wait in line for the next available spot, but will not need to pay to reenter. Please note that our campus will be busier this Friday and Saturday. | | | | |
Volunteers Still Needed
The CUC Youth's annual Punahou Carnival parking fundraiser is happening on February 6 & 7! We are still in need of volunteers throughout the day and evening to assist with parking. This year, 50% of proceeds will go to maintenance of the Great Lawn, the other 50% will go to fund youth experiences and enable us to donate to community organizations.
| | If you're available and would like to support our youth, come help and enjoy some fresh air and fellowship while you're at it! If you have any questions about volunteering or if you are able to help on Friday or Saturday, SIGN UP or email our Youth Director at melissa-thach@centralunionchurch.org. | | | | |
Black History Month
Central Union is honoring Black History Month through music in our Sunday worship services throughout February. The 9 AM service in Honolulu and the 10 AM service at Windward will include musical selections honoring the legacy, challenges, and rich cultural history of Black and African Americans and their significant contributions expressed through the musical arts. Note: Prior to the 9 AM service each Sunday is the Gift of Music which begins at 8:45.
| | Next Week: Come to Messy Church! | | Messy Church is a space for everyone, from keiki to kūpuna, to explore God's love in engaging and hands-on ways. From arts and crafts, to story time, music, and food, there’s something for everyone. Come be in community and grow with us! February’s theme is LOVE. Dinner will be served so please help us by RSVPing! | | | | |
Ash Wednesday Service
Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent which are the forty days of preparation before Holy Week and Easter. Come to our Ash Wednesday service on February 18 at 6:30 PM in Atherton Memorial Chapel and receive ashes which remind us that God’s love is stronger than sin and death, and that in Christ, God stays in communion with us. Let's begin this Lenten season with honesty, hope, and trust that resurrection is already on its way.

Lenten Book Study
This Lent, step into a thoughtful, engaging, and hope-filled journey through Scripture as we explore Rachel Held Evans’ beloved book Inspired. In this four‑week study, we’ll look at how the stories of the Bible continue to shape, challenge, and encourage us today—especially as we walk through a season meant for reflection, renewal, and deeper faith. There are Thursday morning and Tuesday evening options available each week starting February 19. Come when you can!

Support Cheryl & Rogerio
We continue to pray for our dear community members Cheryl and Rogerio who are feeling the weight of inhumane immigration policies. We will share a more recent update in the coming days. They are still very much in need of support. If you would like to give a monetary gift to assist with expenses during this difficult time, you may do so through the online GoFundMe campaign set up by their friend.

Questions for reflection and response following last Sunday's sermon: "Shining Forward: Living Our Faith in the World"
Questions for Reflection
- Where is God calling you to shine your light this week—at home, at work, in your neighborhood?
- What does “living your faith” look like in your daily life? Is there a step you feel nudged to take?
- How does sharing Communion inspire you to live your faith beyond Sunday morning?
Questions for Feedback
- What outreach or service opportunities excite you most as ways for our church to “shine forward” in our community?
- Are there barriers that keep you from living out faith beyond the church walls? How can we address them?
- How can our church better support you in using your gifts and talents to make a difference in the world?
- What stories of “living out faith” would you like to see celebrated or shared in our congregation?
Please email your responses to these questions to Pastor Rushan at rushan-sinnaduray@centralunionchurch.org.

Pray for our youth and volunteers this weekend as they hold their parking fundraiser. May they stay safe, have fun, and share aloha with all those who come to campus!
Pray for Cheryl and Rogerio, and others facing similar difficulties. May we discern how we can offer our care and support.
Give thanks for our ministry leaders!

Read in the Sunday worship service!
Sundays at 7 AM / 9 AM / 11 AM
Worship is one of the heartbeats of our church – it is the work of the whole church community in praising God, hearing God's word to us and responding in faith. One way to help each other in our worship is by reading scripture and other parts of our service. It enhances our experience of worship when we can have different faces and voices leading worship. If you are willing to read in a worship service, please join our pool of readers! Learn more and sign up by clicking HERE.

Beware of Email Scams!
Scams come in many forms, whether it's someone impersonating church staff or even a member, or a stranger seeming to have a good deal for you on a special product or service. Please be cautious when checking emails! Know that church staff will never ask you to purchase something or give personal information by email. Often you can identify an email's authenticity by verifying the sender’s email address (CUC staff emails end with @centralunionchurch.org), but it's also possible for scammers to mimic email addresses. So if you receive any strange message at all and are ever in doubt, just delete it, don't reply or click on any links. You may call the church office (808-941-0957) to confirm.
