NEWS + ANNOUNCEMENTS + REMINDERS

Receive Your Star Gift!

If you were at church this past Sunday, hopefully you received your Star Word, a gift to guide you in the coming year! (If not, click below to receive your word!)

Just as the Magi followed a star which led them to Jesus, we too use what’s available to us to draw nearer to Christ. In the spirit of Epiphany, which commemorates the visit of the Magi when Christ was revealed to the world, we invite you into this Epiphany tradition and prayer practice using Star Words.

Once you have your Star Word (click below to get yours), remember it, keep it close, and reflect on it throughout the year! Consider the ways God is moving in your life through the meaning of the word.

Some questions for reflection:

⭐️ What does my Star Word mean for me?

⭐️ Is it something I need to offer to myself or someone else?

⭐️ Is it something I need to receive for/from myself?

Think of your Star Word as a gift from God, who speaks to us in many different ways. Let your Star Word guide you in the year ahead! 💫

Volunteers Needed for Youth Fundraiser

The CUC Youth's annual Punahou Carnival parking fundraiser is happening on February 7 & 8! Volunteers are needed throughout the day and evening to assist with parking. Help is also needed to pick up and drop off food for volunteers.

If you're available and would like to support our youth, come help and enjoy some fellowship while you're at it!

If you have any questions about volunteering or if you are able to help on Friday or Saturday, please email our Youth Director (melissa-thach@centralunionchurch.org) OR sign up for a shift.

Learn to Play ‘Ukulele

A few of the students from the ‘Ukulele Class offered back in the fall are still strumming along! They continue to meet on Sundays to learn and practice together. Beginner ‘ukulele players from keiki to kūpuna are welcome to come and learn from Wade Cambern who is freely sharing his love of music through teaching ‘ukulele. Bring your own ‘ukulele and come learn to play or get some beginner tips on Sundays from 1-2 PM in the Women’s Building.

Online Worship

Reminder: We've stopped (indefinitely) our prerecorded online worship services which have been shared live on Sundays at 10 AM through Zoom and Facebook. Our main online worship offering will now be the live stream of the 9 AM Sunday traditional service from the Sanctuary. You can view it live or view the recording later on our YouTube channel.

Email or call (808-440-3014) the Church Office if you have any questions or need assistance accessing the live stream.

Readers Needed for Worship!

Worship is one of the heartbeats of our church – it is the work of the whole church community in praising God, hearing God's word to us and responding in faith. One way to help each other in our worship is by reading scripture and other parts of our service. It enhances our experience of worship when we can have different faces and voices leading worship.

If you are willing to read in a worship service, please join our pool of readers! Learn more and sign up by clicking HERE.

Beware of Email Scams!

Scams come in many forms, whether it's someone impersonating a church leader, or a stranger seeming to have a good deal for you on a special product or service. Please be cautious when checking emails! Know that church staff will never ask you to purchase something or give personal information. Often you can identify an email's authenticity by verifying the sender’s email address (CUC staff emails end with @centralunionchurch.org), but it's also possible for scammers to mimic email addresses. So if you receive any strange message at all and are ever in doubt, just delete it, don't reply or click on any links. You may call the church office (808-941-0957) to confirm.
