Give a Gift!
It’s that time of the year again – White Gifts time! The White Gifts story reminds us that all people are valued, and we can all offer something to bless others. This year, help us to care for adults and families who are houseless or in transition.
| |
While we won’t be accepting items and wrapped gifts, you can partner with us by offering a monetary donation. Then, our savvy shoppers will purchase the items requested by our local partner organizations. They will help us distribute them to those in need in our community. Make your donations before December 10 by cash, check, or card (online) and be sure to indicate “White Gifts” on your donation!
Join us on December 17 at 9 AM for our celebration and pageant in worship! All keiki are invited to check in for Sunday School and participate in the pageant – we’ll have costumes ready for them. We look forward to this treasured tradition!

Online Worship
We had a number of technical obstacles with our online service the past two Sundays. Mahalo nui for your patience and grace! Hopefully you were still able to find some time in the week to worship with us. A church member who went back to watch the services shared how much they appreciated Pastor Rushan's sermon on November 12 and Pastor Mary's sermon on November 19 so we do hope you'll view the recordings!
Online worship recordings are available on our website, YouTube, and Facebook page.

THIS SATURDAY: Meet the UCC GMP this Saturday!
|
Come, ask questions and hear from the Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson – the newly installed General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ – this Saturday, November 25, from 2-4 PM in the CUC Parish Hall.
We are excited that Karen Georgia has offered this opportunity for the Hawai‘i Conference UCC to visit with her during her stopover in Hawai‘i! She will be passing through Honolulu on her way back from a pilgrimage to the Marshall Islands to raise awareness about the effects of nuclear testing and climate change in the region.
This will be Karen Georgia's first visit to Hawai‘i as General Minister and President. Come meet and greet her – all are welcome!

Giving Tuesday is November 28
In the coming days, let's give thanks then give back in partnership with our United Church of Christ!
The UCC empowers youth and young adults to serve as climate justice leaders. Your financial donation will strengthen a growing climate justice network that prioritizes their leadership. Let's help our wider church reach its goal of $75,000 goal.

A Christmas Carol Advent Study
|
The classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge is a cherished symbol of Christmas and a wonderful story of redemption and hope – perfect for a study in Advent!
Plan to join Pastor Mary on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:30 PM to bring together this ageless story with a study of our scriptures. We will gather in the Rewick Board Room on Nov. 28, Dec. 5, 12, and 19. Whether you are feeling the Christmas Spirit this year or are full of “Bah humbugs!” we hope you will join us!
RSVP to [email protected]. (Note the time change from last week's notice.)

- Pray for those feeling anxious, lonely, or hungry on this holiday. Think about those in your life who may not have anyone to spend the holiday with, those stressed about family tensions, those facing food insecurity, those who are missing people around the table this year. Find a way to share God's love with them.
- While Thanksgiving is a celebration for many, it is also a "Day of Mourning" for many others. Pray for openness, humility, and strength to acknowledge and hold these complexities while honoring the sacred practice of gratitude that precedes the holiday's often-hidden origins.
- Give thanks! Take a moment to ponder the nourishment in your life—from food to relationships—and count them all as blessings!
