A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

seasons-greetings-banner.gif

December 13th, 2023

Dear Colleague,

Horrible conflicts in the Middle East, Africa, Ukraine and beyond continue to inflict terrible costs on countless innocent lives. Conflicts are manifestations of gross political failures, and it is always civilians who bear the brunt of those mistakes. Politicians in positions of influence must assert the powers they have to stop these conflicts, and forge durable, long-term solutions. It is within their power to do so. Civilians must be freed from the turmoil and violence they are subjected to and realize a peaceful future that is their right.

Our second, Virtual Global Health Week took place October 30 to November 3, 2023. The eighteen free, open access, online workshops covering an array of global health challenges are below. We are extremely grateful to the organizers, panelists, and attendees from around who made this week such a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration. A big thanks to my team: Jenna, who led this effort and Dalal and Sarika for their support. Please share them widely.

Our 2024 in-person conference, Global Health Without Borders: Acting for Impact, will be in Los Angeles, March 7-10, 2024. Register now and take advantage of our lowest registration and hotel room rates at www.cugh2024.org.

Finally, please donate to our end of year fundraiser. All donations support at least 10 travel bursaries for LMIC student or young researchers presenting at CUGH2024. Donate here:

https://www.cugh.org/donate Donations are tax deductible in the US.

Finally, on behalf of our Board of Directors, and all of us at our office in Washington, DC, Dalal, Jenna, Sarah, Sarika, Renee, Norma, and Kathryn, we wish you and yours a happy holiday season and to those who celebrate it, a Merry Christmas. Thank you for all the support you give to us. We hope 2024 will be a healthy and peaceful one for all.

Please forward this newsletter to your networks so others can benefit from it.

Best wishes,

Keith Martin, MD, PC
Executive Director
