All Saints Day Outdoor Service
Sunday, November 1st
Dear Friends,
You are invited to our Outdoor All Saints Day Service on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 5PM in our back parking lot.
We will remember our loved ones who have finished their courses in faith, and now live in the heavenly realm. We will gather around a fire pit, practice a ritual of giving thanks for our departed loved ones and friends, and celebrate Holy Communion. We will gather together safely, physically distanced and wearing masks. Make sure you dress warmly, bring a chair, and remember our building is still closed (which includes the bathrooms).

Please help us plan accordingly and let us know if you will be attending by signing up with the Sign Up Genius link HERE.

If you would like to participate in this outdoor gathering from the comforts of your own homes click here to get more information.

Sunday School always welcomes new friends to join our active groups. Zoom log-in info for the following online classes will be emailed at the end of each week. If you would like to be added to the distribution group or have questions about which class is right for your children, please email Karen at youthchatumc@optonline.net.

PreK / Early Elementary - Sundays at 9:30am on Zoom. Last week, the story of Mary and Martha reminded us to overcome distractions and focus on what’s really important – listening to Jesus. This week – All Saints’ Day our topic is Sadness. Whether it’s a friend moving away, the loss of a pet, or loss of a grandparent or special family member, we all experience sadness and grief. Even Jesus had these feelings at times, like when his friend Lazarus died. The good news is that Jesus understands what it’s like to feel sad and his story can bring us hope and joy.
Submerge (4th-8th grade) - Sundays at 10:30am on Zoom. We continue diving deeper into some familiar Bible stories with “13 Very Bad Days, and how God fixed them.” This week we’ll look at a day Lazarus had that was about as bad as a day can get. But, we’ll also look at what happened a few days later which became a reason many people in Jesus’ time began to believe in him and why Lazarus is still a testimony to the truth that Jesus is powerful. Have a Bible handy as well as a piece of paper, pen/pencil, and a strip (7-10 squares) of toilet paper.

Submerge / Tween Time: Join us Thursday at 4:00pm on zoom to hang out, play some games, connect and help each other thru this time of social distancing.
High School Discussion - Sundays at 11:45am on Zoom. This week we begin the unit on “MEANING – Why Are We Here?” The question of whether or not there is meaning and purpose in the world is the perennial BIG QUESTION.  Cultural icons have given voice to this question in their popular music, their poetry, and their literature. Accordingly, if there is meaning in the world, then there is meaning for our individual lives, and meaning is something we can discover and experience. Just as we grow physically, we grow in our understanding of the meaning and the unique purpose for our lives. We grow in our understanding by remaining connected to a community of Christians, brothers and sisters in Christ who help us identify our unique gifts and talents. And part of our unique purpose, then, is to enter into a covenantal relationship with our Creator, who knows us better than we know ourselves.
This week’s Key verses: Matthew 22:36-40, Matthew 28:18-20
