Please read the following letter from
Diane Van Patten, President and Treasurer of CUMC UMW

I had the pleasure of being the President and Treasurer of our UMW for the past five years. While I have enjoyed being so involved and appreciate the support I have received, I feel it is time for me to step down at the end of the year. We will need a new President and Treasurer beginning in January. I will be happy to talk with anyone who may be interested in either position or anyone who may want more information before making a decision.  Please feel free to contact me or the church office . It is my hope that we will be able to make this a smooth transition.
Do You Know What a Confirmand Knows?
This week the Confirmands talked about the founder of the Methodist movement: John Wesley.
What events and people helped shape John Wesley’s thinking about Christianity and how is his theology different from other Protestant thinking? What do you know about the Christmas Conference, the Aldersgate Experience, the Holy Club, Charles Wesley, and Circuit Riders? Do you know how many ‘hymns’ Charles Wesley wrote? What favorite Christmas carol was written by him? Ask Joseph, Aarun, Hayden, Gabriella, Matthew, Naomi, or Hunter or click on the following links to find the answers.
Thank You!
Thank you to those that helped provide refreshments, set up/clean up, and volunteered time to help with last weekend's Walk A Mile in a Refugee's Shoes. It was a wonderful event that was interactive and informative. Please enjoy some pictures below.
Well Done!

Turkey Drive Coordinator for CUMC (for 2019)
We need a new CUMC Coordinator for the annual turkey drive scheduled for November 23 rd at CUMC. This Turkey Drive is organized by the Community FoodBank of NJ ! Peggy and Caesar Sweitzer have graciously been our leaders for approximately 20 years. This half-day event (from 9-2pm) has brought the Sweitzers much joy over the years as they witnessed the generosity of our friends and neighbors. After 20 years, this will be their final Turkey Drive and it is time for them to pass the baton. It really is a simple obligation that can even be shared with another member or a family! THIS IS NOT A BIG TIME COMMITMENT!
  • The FoodBank supplies posters and the collection truck/driver.
  • The Boy Scouts of Troop 8 supply all the labor the day of the drive.
  • CUMC assists with: poster distribution, emailing local churches and being present the day of the drive
Please give the Sweitzers a call if you are interested. Peggy and Caesar Sweitzer 973-635-7636 or 201-207-7993 (Caesar's mobile) or email: caesar.sweitzer@gmail.com
