Advent Small Groups begin
Monday, December 2 nd
During the holy season of Advent we’re delighted to offer an opportunity to grow in faith as we deepen our relationships with God and one another by being part of a small group.

Advent 2019 features the DVD-based study Light of the World: A Beginners Guide to Advent . Author, professor, and biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine explores the biblical texts surrounding the birth of Jesus. Join her as she traces the Christmas narrative through the stories of Zechariah and Elizabeth, Mary, the journey to Bethlehem, and the Magi’s visit.
Signup sheets are located across from Pastor Jeff’s office, and books may be purchased for $15.00 each.  For further information contact Associate Pastor Sharon Yarger at the CUMC office or at scyarger@optonline.net .

Our Giving Tree is Now Up!
CUMC’s Jr. Youth Invite You to Help with
Annual Giving Tree
This year’s Giving Tree helps a family of children who lost their mother to cancer in September. Alison was a single mother to three amazing kids, June, 17, Eric, 15, and Isabelle, 13—students in the school district where one of our CUMC members teaches. This family has endured several financial setbacks over the past two years since Alison was unable to work due to the aggressiveness of her illness.  With this year's giving tree, and your support, our youth hope to bring a bit of joy to these children as they go through this difficult holiday season.

Here’s how you can help:
 1.  Select a holiday gift card / tag from the tree.
2. For cards / tags with gifts, please sign your name by the corresponding item on the “Giving Tree” Donor Sign Out list on the door by the tree.
3.  Purchase the gift or gift certificate or make a cash/check donation (made out to Chatham United Methodist Church, note: Giving Tree)
4.  Attach the holiday gift card / tag to the purchase gift . Please do not wrap the gifts. Gift bags or unsealed decorative boxes are okay.
5.  Place gifts under the tree by Sunday, December 15 . (Cash/gift cards can be placed in the decorated Gift box in the church office.

All-ages, Intergenerational Event
Friday, December 6, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
All are invited for an evening of food, fun, and cookies! CUMC has been asked once again to provide 500 cookies for the inmates and staff at the Morris County Correctional Facility as part of the Chaplaincy’s Christmas Gift Collection. We’ll gather in Rodda Hall, enjoy some pizza (please bring some money to chip in), have fun activities for little ones and we’ll bake cookies, decorate plain, pre-baked, homemade cookies (no frosting), and package the cookies in Ziploc bags. It will be a wonderful time for all ages, and a great opportunity to bring a friend or two to church!
Can’t be there? Consider donating plain homemade cookies for us to decorate. Questions? contact Associate Pastor Sharon Yarger at the church office or at scyarger@optonline.net.
Saturday, December 7 th, 3:00 PM
A Blue Christmas Service is a time to acknowledge the feelings that surrounds Christmas for some of us, a time to remember the reason for those feelings, and a time to offer those feelings to God. This service offers a haven for people who desire a special touch from God during the holidays, and promises to be a time of quiet reflection, candle lighting, readings, singing, and prayer. We invite you to join us this Christmas season for a time of comfort and rest.
The service will be held in the Sanctuary and followed by light refreshments and shared fellowship. Please join us, and bring a friend. Hosted by CUMC’s Stephen Ministers
