March 16th marks 4 years since 8 people were killed at spas in Atlanta, 6 of them Asian women. This tragedy led to the passing of the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, but anti-Asian hate persists. In this special, "Confronting Asian Hate," we highlight filmmakers and leaders fighting this ongoing racism.

An alcoholic doctor on a Polynesian island, disgusted by white exploitation of the natives, finds himself marooned on a pristinely beautiful island. Loosely based on the travel book of the same name by Frederick O'Brien, this film is important historically for being the first sound MGM film to be released with a pre-recorded soundtrack.

Steve Zeidman's op-ed in the New York Law Journal calls for a reevaluation of sentencing, citing pleas from individuals sentenced as minors. This led to the creation of Second Look Project New York: Beyond Guilt at CUNY School of Law, advocating for clemency and sentence reconsideration.
