Happy October!
As Executive Director, I'm thrilled to announce that the CUNY Creative Arts Team (CAT) has moved into a beautiful new home!
For the past year, I've had the pleasure of working with an extraordinary team of CUNY and CAT colleagues to plan and bring this exciting new space to life. And the best part? We're just around the corner from our former office near Herald Square!

A New Chapter for CAT!
Since joining CUNY in 2004, CAT has continued to grow as part of CUNY's Office of P20 Pathways, a hub for innovative programs and partnerships that provide educational opportunities for all New Yorkers. CAT's move marks an exciting new chapter in CAT’s 52-year history of using applied theatre strategies to spark creativity, strengthen social and academic skills, and engage young people with the world around them.
Our talented staff of educators and teaching artists reach young people, families, educators and communities at our facility and in more than 120 NYC public schools each year, thanks to the support of the City Council, public agencies, private funders, and individual donors.
Our Applied Theatre Partnership Continues.
There's more exciting news! The MA in Applied Theatre (MAAT) program has moved to Hunter College's Theatre Department. Our longstanding partnership continues with some MAAT classes and joint projects hosted at CAT's new space!
New Space. New Possibilities. Same CAT Spirit.
Our new home opens wonderful possibilities for rehearsals, workshops, classes, performances, and collaboration.
As we begin this chapter, we remain committed to the vision that has guided CAT since 1974: theatre connects people, deepens understanding, and helps communities shape a better future.
We can't wait to welcome our students, educators, artists, partners, and friends to our new home!
