Resident Spotlight: Courtney Heverling, Hollis Garden Manager

This week we are spotlighting Courtney Heverling, our Hollis Garden Manager. Read about Courtney's passion for gardening and how she grew her green thumb:

"I developed an interest in gardening when I was  a young child. I remember our first  house had a bit of land to grow a few summer staples," Courtney said.

"And since then until the death of my Father we always had a garden. I was also taught that "whatever I took from the Earth I was to always give back, leave the area you work better than before you where there. "

Courtney states the best part of gardening is seeing all of her blood, sweat, and tears literally become alive. Courtney emphasized, gardening provides substance to her human being. "The worst part of gardening is hands down all the bad bugs that are intent on a growers failure !!!!!" Courtney joked.

Courtney shared a valuable lesson she has learned working in Hollis Garden: " I believe that while I've learned so many things through gardening I'm more aware of just how strong our planet is, yet how very vulnerable at the same time.

Do your best for our world friends. It wont be here forever. Cherish it while you can."
