WINTER 2022

Message from our CEO Dr. Ken Brough

Dr. Ken Brough
Dr. Ken Brough, CEO

As we are preparing for the holiday season, I am also reflecting on the fact that 2022 will soon be coming to an end. As I think back on this year, there is so much that we as a team are grateful for. In particular, we are grateful for the privilege of being part of your healthcare journey. What continues to bring us great joy is the positive feedback we receive from you, our patients. Whether it is a “thank you” as you leave to our Clinic Health Assistants, an email to the Clinic, or taking the time to leave a 5 Star Google Review - we celebrate the feedback you provide to us as a team. It inspires us and encourages us to know that we are making a difference and creating a true Community of Care. For that, we are truly grateful and thank you.

From all of us at CURAVITA, we wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season!

Important Deadline for Orthotics and

2022 Health Insurance Claims

As the end of the year approaches, we understand that some patients will want to have orthotics made and submit a claim on their 2022 health insurance for coverage. In order for these orthotics to be claimable in 2022, they must be manufactured, shipped, and invoiced to you by December 31, 2022.

For 2022, our year-end order deadline is 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20th. Orders, along with their casts or scans, must be received at the orthotics lab before this deadline to be guaranteed to ship out by Friday December 30th.

New And Familiar Faces

Welcome To The Team

Welcome to Registered Physiotherapist, Shreya Patel! Shreya joined our CURAVITA Byward Clinic team this Fall. She completed her undergraduate degree in 2012 from Maharaja Sayajirao University in Gujarat, India. In 2014, Shreya completed her Masters of Physiotherapy in Musculoskeletal and Sports from Saurashtra University in Gujarat, India. In 2019, Shreya moved to Ottawa where she began practicing as a Resident Physiotherapist in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. In 2022, Shreya became a Registered Physiotherapist with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Growing up, a relative of Shreya’s had back surgery and she saw firsthand how physiotherapy helped and supported her relative’s rehabilitation and recovery. This particular experience, coupled with her passion to help people, motivated Shreya to become a physiotherapist. As a physiotherapist, Shreya follows an evidence-based, patient-centric approach with her patients. She works collaboratively with her patients in customizing a treatment plan that takes into account their specific health and wellness goals and needs. Shreya believes in empowering and educating her patients so that they are aware of their condition, are aligned with their treatment plan, and understand their prognosis so they are able to actively participate and feel motivated towards their ultimate goals and needs being achieved. In order to achieve optimum results for patients, the physiotherapy techniques and modalities that Shreya focuses on include Mckenzie Technique, Manual Therapy which involves Myofascial Release, Active Soft Tissue Release, Ischemic Compression, Joint Mobilization Techniques, Exercise Therapy and Electrotherapy. To book an initial appointment with Shreya, please call our Byward Clinic at 613.860.8600 and for subsequent appointments, you can book online at www.curavita.com or call our clinic.

Staying Involved In Our Professions:

Canadian Chiropractic Association National

Convention & Tradeshow

Every two years, Chiropractors across the country gather for three jam-packed days of professional development and networking opportunities at the Canadian Chiropractic Association’s National Convention & Tradeshow. From October 21st to 23rd, Dr. Brough, Dr. Corriveau, and Dr. Hamid attended this year’s convention held in Montreal, Quebec. The theme for the 2022 convention was Chiropractors: A Part of Every Canadian’s Healthcare Team. The weekend was an opportunity to catch up with former classmates and colleagues while expanding their skills via seminars, exciting keynote speakers, and visiting the trade show to discover the latest resources to help their practice and the Clinics. To wrap up the weekend, attendees were invited to a Gala with an awards ceremony honouring and recognizing exceptional individuals within the chiropractic profession. For a full synopsis of the event, please check out our blog post “CCA’s National Convention & Tradeshow 2022 Recap.”

In Our Downtime

Ottawa Gatineau Salsa Festival

Clinic Health Assistant, Maria Pavel, from our CURAVITA Byward Clinic location had the privilege of hosting the 5th Annual Ottawa Gatineau Salsa Festival this Fall. It was a great weekend with amazing performances and really fun social dance parties afterwards at the Museum of History. Maria has recently started her own dance company, Ottawa Dance Lessons!

Welcome To The Family

Congratulations to our CURAVITA Byward Clinic, Office Manager, Nicole Chesno, on the adoption of her two little fur babies Sylvester and Snowball from the Humane Society!

Traveling the World

RMT Melanie Giroux-Cook, of our CURAVITA Glebe Clinic location was able to enjoy some downtime in Italy this Fall with her friends. Highlights included exploring the Amalfi coast and enjoying delicious Italian food.

Registered Physiotherapist, Jumana Khambatwala of our CURAVITA Byward Clinic location, visited with family for four weeks in India after a four year period of not being together. It was a fun trip - except for the 35 degrees temperatures and 100% humidity! The highlight of the trip for Jumana was spending time with family and friends and enjoying the delicious Indian food. She returned home mid-November with a tan, wonderful memories, and with the hopes of seeing her family again soon. Jumana is now back at the Clinic with a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm!
