Dear CUSD Team,

Groundbreaking at Calexico High School!
We are very excited to share with everyone the wonderful pictures above from our groundbreaking ceremony held on December 3, 2019 at Calexico High School. The groundbreaking ceremony initiates the start of the new construction of the 16 classroom, state-of-the-art building, and the modernization of "no-name field". This is another project possible through the Measure "V" Bond Funds. We thank our Board of Trustees, Mike Castillo, Lorenzo Calderon Jr., Enrique Alvarado, Ciro Calderon, and Richard Romero for their attendance and continued support. Preparing the Next Generation of Border Patrol Agents
With the collaboration of the El Centro Sector Border Patrol and Calexico High School's Criminal Justice Program, students are prepared for a possible career in law enforcement.

Student Support Services
December 2 was National Special Education Day and Calexico continues to be be a leader in inclusion while also doing great things for kids!

Curriculum Department
Kindergarten teachers collaborating and designing opportunities for students to demonstrate learning through a new report card.

English Learners
Congratulations to all the students that were Reclassified this week at Rockwood, Dool, and Mains.

Food Services
We have wonderful staff in charge of production.


This last week we organized a Migrant Family STEAM Night (Science,Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). The students were engaged and participated in several activities. On Wednesday, December 11th, we will be holding our 4th Annual Family to Family Clothing event. All Migrant, Homeless and Foster Families are invited to join us.

State and Federal Projects
We provide support to schools that have been identified for Additional Targeted Support & Improvement (ATSI). With the support of ICOE we go through a comprehensive needs assessment and create a plan to address the needs identified.
Grants we are working on this month: Carl D. Perkins (CTE), Strong Workforce (CTE), Learning Communities for School Success, Farm to School, and ASES Renewal
Calexico Unified School District
