13 September 2021 | CV Cyber Academy
Dear CV Cyber Academy Families,

It is hard to believe that we are already into the 4th week of school. As we continue to approach the halfway point of the first nine weeks, I wanted to share some reminders with you about virtual learning with Waterfront Learning:
  • Students should log in to Waterfront Learning Monday through Friday. Waterfront Learning will take attendance automatically. According to state law, attendance is required for all students.
  • Upon logging in to Waterfront Learning, students can see if they are On Pace, Ahead, or Behind in coursework by subject. I encourage all families to review this at least weekly. Please do not wait until the last minute to catch up on work.
  • For secondary families, once inside a course, in the top right-hand corner, you may click on "Course Report" for a detailed view of student work, grades, the time it took to complete an assignment verse the suggested time, and more.
  • For elementary families, once inside a course, in the top right corner, you can click on the graph icon for a detailed report.
  • Parents/Guardians may create a Guardian Account for Waterfront Learning also. The Guardian Account allows you to monitor your child's progress. This will allow the parent to access the student's attendance, performance, and progress at any time. Genius updates nightly with the course platform, so any work done on a specific day will be reflected in Genius the following day. To create an account, follow these steps:
  • Have your student log in to Waterfront Learning's Genius program
  • Click on Add Guardian on the menu on the left side.
  • Complete the required fields and click Save
  • To access the guardian account, use the same log in website as the student account
  • Click on Academic Snapshot on the left side menu to see the progress and grades for each course.

Several elementary families have received their workbooks in the mail while others have not. Waterfront Learning is investigating the delay for families who should have received workbooks already. Workbooks take approximately 10-14 days once the order is placed.

For families who registered for the Cyber Academy after the start of the school year, Waterfront Learning places the orders on Fridays for any new enrollees. While waiting for the workbooks, you have 3 options to complete the activities.
  • Complete the activities on a piece of scratch writing/drawing paper.
  • Chartiers Valley can print the workbooks pages for a module. The papers can be obtained at our Central Administration Offices. Please email mhubert@cvsd.net to arrange a pick-up and specific materials needed.
  • Print the necessary documents on your home printer.
  • Please note that Chartiers Valley does not reimburse for printer paper/ink.

From the Cafeteria
This school year our Food Service Department is experiencing some supply chain issues with numerous menu items for both breakfast and lunch. Some popular items are on backorder with no known restock date at this time. Please be aware that we are adjusting the menus when we are informed of any out of stock items and we are giving students other options to choose from during meal service. We ask for your patience during this time, we are doing the best we can with what products we are able to order. Please contact me if you have any questions and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Chartiers Valley School District is offering FREE breakfast and FREE lunch to every student, every school day. More information.

We are also offering an a la carte snack menu this year for students who wish to pack their lunch and buy snacks.
