SECOND NOTICE
 
CVAG Representatives to SCAG Regional Council
Election to be held Monday at 4:30 pm, February 25, 2019
 
CVAG announces elections to be held to select representatives from its member jurisdictions, to serve on the Regional Council for the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG).
 
  • 1 from Regional Council District #2 (Cities of Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage)
  • 1 from Regional Council District #66 (Cities of Blythe, Coachella, Indio,     and La Quinta)
 
An election is held every two years to fill the subregional seats on the SCAGRegional Council (RC), with all elected city council officials from SCAG and CVAG member cities within the Districts, as eligible candidatesThe elected representative must be able to assume the seat for the Thursday, May 2,2019 meeting of the SCAG Regional Conference and General Assembly and must be able to attend monthly Regional Council and policy meetings held at SCAG Los Angeles offices, on the first Thursday of the month. 
 
The DEADLINE was Friday, February 8, 2019 at 5 pmand the following candidates have submitted their names for consideration for this election:
 
District 2:       Russell Betts, City of Desert Hot Springs;
                        Kathleen Kelly, City of Palm Desert;
                        Lisa Middleton, City of Palm Springs

District 66:      Megan Beaman-Jacinto, City of Coachella (only                                      candidate: declared the representative)
 
The District Representative for District 2 shall be elected by a majority of the quorum, which is at least 4 representatives from the 6 cities.  While it has been custom for only the CVAG Executive Committee member from each city to vote, there was not consensus from the candidates to follow this custom. So, per SCAG bylaws, all other elected councilmembers present from their District are eligible to vote as well. We apologize for any inconvenience.
