CVBIA Update: March 25, 2020
Town Hall update, new Beach info,
blood and mask donations

In a Town Hall conference call earlier today, HBAV leaders cautioned members that although the construction industry remains operational per Gov. Northam's executive order issued Monday, no one should be conducting business as usual.

It's critical for every member to follow CDC and government guidelines in keeping employees, clients and the general public safe. Not doing so could jeopardize the industry's status as an essential business. To help members put a risk mitigation plan in place - which some states are requiring - NAHB has prepared a template plan available by clicking here .

HBAV, along with the Virginia Association of REALTORS, strongly recommends that builders close model homes until the crisis ends.

The Virginia Beach Planning and Community Development Department has now closed its lobby and counter to the public. Online submissions are encouraged; drop-off instructions are also available. Click here for details.

Municipal Updates sent out last week detailed individual localities' plans for services normally provided to the construction industry. Click here for a compilation of those updates . We continue to stay in touch with all the localities and will let you know of any additional changes in their operating procedures.

NAHB is posting a wealth of information to help companies operate during this crisis, including articles on such topics as Evaluating Your Contracts in the Wake of the Coronavirus Pandemic .

The multifamily industry is also struggling with a new way to operate , while safely fulfilling a demand that still exists, despite the pandemic. An article just out from Multifamilypro highlights Google demand graphics for apartment searches over the past 30 days. (Virginia ranks ninth.)

Association member and benefits partner One Digital also has a number of helpful articles available and has set up a Coronavirus Advisory Hub to help businesses with workplace issues. Click here to sign up for a free live session at 2 p.m. tomorrow, March 26, addressing the stimulus bill and Families First Act.

As CVBIA continues to receive updates and information on things that affect your business, we'll share those with you in these Updates, as well as on the association web site .

Best regards,
Ryan Rose, CVBIA President
