Your Weekly Update: March 30, 2020
|
|
Adjusting to a new normal
Earlier today,
Governor Ralph Northam issued
a statewide Stay at Home order, which takes effect immediately and will remain in place until June 10
, unless amended or rescinded by a further executive order.
The order directs all Virginians to stay home except in extremely limited circumstances, as outlined in last week's Executive Order 53. Click

for the full text of today's executive order.
HBAV reminds members that
although the construction industry still remains operational at the current time,
no one should be conducting business as usual.
It's critical for every member to follow CDC and government guidelines
in keeping employees, clients and the general public safe. Not doing so could jeopardize the industry's status as an essential business. Click

As of this morning,
Norfolk has closed all municipal offices and employees are tele-working.
Inspectors will no longer conduct on-site inspections for the next two weeks, with an extension possible depending on the health crisis status at that time. Contact your inspector to discuss using Face Time, videos or photos.
Third-party inspections continue to be accepted.
The
Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act
that was approved Friday includes several provisions
to help small businesses and those engaged in the residential construction sector.

The Home Builders Association of Virginia and the Virginia REALTORS ® are strongly recommending that

To
support multifamily property owners and keep apartment renters in their homes
during the national emergency, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has announced that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the Enterprises) will offer multifamily property owners mortgage forbearance with the condition that they suspend all evictions for renters unable to pay rent due to the impact of coronavirus.
