Staying Connected....!

In this space, look for tips, news, training opportunities, and strategies for how to stay connected. Maintaining human connections with other people and our communities is vital to our health and well-being, especially as we continue to cope with COVID-19. Central Vermont Council on Aging has launched an initiative to support older Central Vermonters to get and stay connected and to combat loneliness and isolation experienced by so many of us.

Dell Laptops on Loan

Are you interested in trying out a laptop for the first time? CVCOA has 5 Dell Laptops to lend out to older adults who need a computing device and would like to test drive a laptop before deciding what to purchase. Two Creative Aging Opportunities:

1) Variety Show - Friday, May 7th at 3:00 p.m. over Zoom. Registration is required in advance to attend or contribute. Register Here.

We are looking for people who would like to contribute to the show. Show off your storytelling skills, sing a song or play some music, recite a poem, perform a magic trick, showcase a skill, or any other act/performance you can dream up! Acts should be in the 3–7-minute range and can be pre-recorded or live. If you would like to contribute, please contact Luke Rackers at lrackers@cvcoa.org or call 802-479-1953.

2) Van Gogh Virtual Museum Visit - Friday, June 4th at 3:00 p.m. over Zoom. Registration is required in advance via this link: Van Gogh Registration

In addition to the virtual museum visit, we will also be discussing the Painting Everyday Objects activity and artwork from the recent Creative Care Kit project and reading some of Van Gogh letters.

Fight Social Isolation and Build Solidarity with Neighbors!

Volunteer to be a Friendly Caller!

The Good Neighbor Volunteer Program is actively recruiting for 3 volunteers who are interested in providing weekly companionship to socially isolated older adults in the community. All volunteers must complete paperwork and finish the onboarding process to start. Additionally, COVID-19 protocols are still in place. Medicare & You Workshops are offered regularly to help individuals who are new to the Medicare system. During the COVID-19 pandemic, CVCOA is offering Medicare & You sessions remotely using Zoom. Here are upcoming dates and times for April and May:
