TOP STORY
String of recent accidents highlight need for better dilligence
Within the past month a member of the CVE community was struck and killed by a driver just outside the gates on Military Trail. Also within the last month an Upminster resident was injured when hit by a car inside the Village.

If you are walking anywhere either inside or outside the Village you must exercise proper safety measures.

  • Follow the rules of the road and obey signs and signals.

  • Walk on sidewalks whenever they are available.

  • If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic and as far from traffic as possible.

  • Cross streets at crosswalks or intersections. Look for cars in all directions, including those turning left or right.

  • If a crosswalk or intersection is not available, locate a well-lit area where you have the best view of traffic. Wait for a gap in traffic that allows enough time to cross safely; continue watching for traffic as you cross.

  • Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways, or backing up in parking lots.

  • Avoid alcohol and drugs when walking; they impair your abilities and your judgment.
Do not feed ducks
Please remember that you should not feed the ducks in CVE.

First of all, it is not healthy for them. Bread and similar items have no nutritional value for ducks. Second, feeding ducks encourages them to use CVE as their bathroom, leaving droppings on patios, sidewalks and porches.
Do not hit ducks
We can't believe we need to put out this message.

There have been reports of drivers in CVE going out of their way to try to run over the ducks in the community.

Needless to say (although apparently it does need to be said), you should not try to run over the ducks with your car.
The new CVE Master Management Annual Report is out
This 2021 CVE Master Management Annual Report is now available. It provides a snapshot of some of the more significant accomplishments over the previous twelve months. It also previews upcoming capital improvement projects in 2022. A printed copy of the report is available in the Master Management office.

You may also view it online by clicking below.

Expanded bus hours
Good news! CVE Master Management is expanding bus hours on Sundays.

Sunday buses will now begin running at 9:00am (instead of the previous start time of 10:30am). The expanded hours will continue throughout season due to increased ridership.
Bulk waste reminder

Please remember that yard and landscaping debris MAY NOT be placed in the bulk trash piles for pick up.

All landscaping services must collect and cart away their own yard waste.
Cleaning up Military Trail
CVE Master Management understands that preserving quality of life in the Village sometimes means doing things outside the Village.

As part of CVE Master Management's ongoing campaign "Caring Beyond the Gates," staff has been policing the areas outside the gates along Military Trail.

Crews from CVE Master Management have been walking the government-owned areas along Military Trail to pick up debris and maintain landscaping.
Message from the Executive Director
Military Trail Update
One of the major projects we have been working on finally begins next month.

After delays caused by COVID shortages (both in staff and supplies), the construction of a right turn lane from southbound Military Trail into the East Gate will begin next month.

Once we begin, it should be a relatively quick project.

However, while we are putting in the new turn lane, please keep an eye out for notices announcing possible detours or closures at the East Gate. My goal is to avoid as many detours as possible, but we may have a day or two during paving when you will need to use one of the other entrances.

Of course, the good news is that since we rebuilt the West Gate resident delays are down to zero with the addition of the second inbound lane.

Up next: The main entrance. Stay tuned

Be well. Stay Safe.
