What are the rules for washing your car in the Village

Residents are reminded that the City of Deerfield Beach has prohibited the use of mobile car washing services citywide.

This ban was enacted due to environmental concerns related to runoff from cleaning agents and soaps, which can enter the stormwater system and impact local waterways.

While the City does not prohibit individuals from washing their own vehicles, please be advised that Village rules do not permit the use of potable water sources for this activity. This includes any faucets located next to your building or water accessed directly from your condominium unit.

These restrictions are in place to help conserve water and maintain compliance with both local and community-wide standards.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping protect our environment and preserving community resources.

Welcome to Hurricane Season

This is the official start of hurricane season, and while there may not be a storm on the horizon yet, now is the perfect time to get prepared.

This month’s INSIDER includes several items designed to help you take smart, steady steps to get ready long before peak season arrives

Use these early weeks to get ahead of the rush and ensure you, your home, and your loved ones are ready—just in case.

Stock Up Without the Stampede

Nobody enjoys a last-minute grocery store run when a hurricane is on the way. That’s why June is the ideal time to begin gradually stocking up on non-perishable supplies.

Each week, add a few extra items to your shopping cart—canned goods, bottled water, batteries, hygiene products, pet food, and medications. Build your storm supply kit slowly to spread out the cost and avoid shortages when demand spikes. Don’t forget flashlights, manual can openers, and phone charging bricks. Also check expiration dates on supplies you already have. Set aside cash in small bills, since ATMs and card readers may not work after a storm.

Planning ahead this way will let you avoid the panic—and the crowds—when storms are actually threatening.

Is Your Insurance Hurricane-Ready? Now’s the Time to Know

This is your chance to get ahead by reviewing your homeowners insurance policy. Don’t wait until a named storm is on the radar—many policies won’t let you make changes or new purchases once a storm is approaching.

Double-check your deductible—especially the hurricane deductible, which is usually higher. Take a home inventory using photos or videos of each room, including major appliances, electronics, and important documents. Store this information in a secure digital location or cloud-based backup.

If you’ve made upgrades to your condo since last season, such as installing impact windows, report these improvements to your insurance company. It may even reduce your premiums.

A little time spent now reviewing your policy could make a world of difference later in the season.

Proof, Policies, and Prescriptions—Pack It All

Think of all the papers and records you’d need after a storm—identification, insurance policies, banking info, prescriptions, medical records, home deeds, vehicle titles.

Are yours protected?

Now is the time to gather all your important documents and store them in a waterproof, fireproof container. Better yet, scan or photograph them and save them to a secure, cloud-based backup you can access from anywhere. If you rely on printed copies of prescriptions or medical documents, keep a small go-kit with those essentials ready.

Organizing these materials now prevents last-minute scrambling and ensures you’ll have what you need to start recovery, file claims, and handle emergencies. It’s a small task with big payoffs, and the quiet days at the start of hurricane season are the perfect time to get it done.

Message from the Executive Director

As we welcome the start of summer, I want to take a moment to provide a brief update on several important capital improvement projects taking place throughout our community. These projects are part of our continued commitment to maintaining and enhancing the quality of life at Century Village East.

First, construction has officially begun on the new main guardhouse. With demolition of the old structure complete, we have now begun pouring the foundation for the new facility. This project will modernize our main entrance and improve both functionality and appearance.

Along Hillsboro Boulevard, we are preparing for the construction of the long-planned perimeter wall. Utility location work is currently underway, and once completed, construction of the wall will begin. This project will provide added security and aesthetic value to the community’s border.

In CVE Central Park, you may have noticed exciting progress. As featured in this newsletter, the lighting and fountains are now fully operational, bringing new beauty and life to this important outdoor space.

We are also in the planning stages for new sidewalks along Newport Drive. Our goal is to begin work on these improvements before the end of the year to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.

Another major project involves the wall along Southwest 10th Street. This effort is being led by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and representatives from FDOT will attend our June 19th Board of Directors meeting to provide an update and answer resident questions.

We’ve also made notable progress in maintaining our waterways. Durham Lake, which runs along Hillsboro Boulevard near Durham, has been cleaned and remulched, with new hedges scheduled.

In the areas of Markham and Grantham, drainage improvements have been completed to address longstanding water management issues. Additional drainage work across the Village will continue throughout the year as part of our ongoing infrastructure strategy.

Finally, we are developing plans to redesign the roadway near Westbury. This includes creating a proper turnaround area at the end of the road to allow buses and other vehicles to safely reverse course, as the pathway previously used by buses will soon be closed.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work to keep Century Village East a safe, beautiful, and well-maintained place to live.

Don't forget to join us June 19th at 9:30am for our CVE Master Management Board of Directors meeting inside the Activity Center. You can always join us on Zoom.

As always, be well and stay safe.
