Dear IS Families,

Happy Thanksgiving Week and the last Monday Memo for November. As we enter this long holiday weekend, we would like to express our gratitude and thankfulness to the CVIS community. From our students, to staff, to parents and guardians, all of you make CVIS the positive place that it is. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful individuals helping to ensure the growth and success of our student body. We hope that this holiday weekend is filled with positive memories, time with family and/or friends, and time to relax.

Students will return to school on Wednesday, November 29. Staff will return to the building on November 28 for a day of staff development.

This week is also the kick-off to our annual Thanks for Giving Food Drive. Students are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food or hygiene items this week and next to support local families in need during this holiday season, Southwest Meals on Wheels, and local food pantries. Students should take any donations to their classroom to be counted.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

If your family qualifies for free lunch, please complete the Free Lunch Application or contact Sally Metrovich at 412-429-2254 ([email protected]). Students will be categorized under the "paid" status unless a form is completed. School lunch menus can be found on the school district’s website, by clicking here, or by downloading the Nurtrislice app.

News from the PTG

Sarris Candies Fundraiser is now open! Orders can be placed on the paper order forms (sent home with students) and returned to the school with checks payable to CVIS PTG by November 21st. Candy pick-up will take place on December 13th at the IS, with more details to follow. Online orders can be placed until December 15th through Sarris Candies Fundraising - The World's Best Chocolates using group ID # 10-0939. Online orders will ship directly to your home!

Thanks to everyone who donated to the Children's Caring Place. Our fundraiser, "Coins for Caring" collected $1,273.12.

Chartiers Valley students are invited to submit artwork for the Holiday Greeting Card Art Contest. The theme is "Holidays Around the World." Artwork can be submitted through Wednesday, November 29, 2023, and the winning artwork will be featured on the 2023 CV Holiday Card. Submissions can be dropped off in person at the building offices, via this Google Form, or by emailing [email protected].
