At CVR MLS, protecting your data is a top priority. In light of the recent security issue that prompted password resets for over one million MLS users nationwide, we want to remind you of a few important security practices:
Do not share your password.Password sharing is strictly prohibited—even with CVR MLS staff, assistants, graphic designers, or web developers. Sharing credentials compromises system security and may result in significant fines.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA). The CVR MLS dashboard uses MFA, which may prompt you to verify your identity with a code sent via email or text. For this reason, please avoid using a shared or team email address. We recommend associating a mobile phone with your account for easier access. You can update your contact details in the Member Hub.
Access outside the U.S. and Canada.Matrix access is only guaranteed within the United States and Canada. International assistants must complete the CVR MLS International Access Addendum. If you are traveling or working abroad, we recommend using a VPN to maintain secure access.

Trending Compliance Issues
Over the past several months, we’ve seen an increase in the following compliance violations. Please take a moment to review and ensure your listings remain in good standing:
Missing Square Footage Supplements.If the square footage source is anything other than “per tax,” substantiation must be uploaded as a listing supplement. Acceptable documentation includes sketches, software-generated reports, or appraisals (only the pages showing square footage). Please also double-check your square footage fields before activating your listing—many entries are showing “0” in the Above Grade Finished area. Note: This rule applies only to resale properties.
Mentions of Compensation.Compensation details—including buyer agent payments or bonuses—cannot appear in listing data, ShowingTime instructions, or SentriLock notes. Under the 2024 NAR Settlement, the MLS may not be used to communicate compensation information.
Password Sharing.Password sharing is strictly prohibited. Our system actively scans for potential breaches. If you need help setting up an assistant or teammate with proper Matrix access, please contact us for support.

Reminder about Certification of Mold Remediation Professionals
The Virginia Consumer Protection Act requires that only certified professionals perform mold remediation in residential properties and they must follow strict EPA and ANSI/IICRC standards.
Prior to engaging a firm to perform any mold remediation services, the property owner should verify that the firm has the required certification. A mold remediation firm’s certification status can be verified on the IICRC Global Locator. Recommending or working with an uncertified firm could put your clients and your business at legal and financial risk.
