A Message from our Board President:
Dear CVYO Families and Supporters,
We apologize for the delay of information, and we appreciate your patience as CVYO works its way through the Covid-19 restrictions.
We want you to know that after a lot of research, many considerations, discussions, and meetings, the CVYO Board has voted to delay the resumption of rehearsals this fall. This may be for 1-2 months, or through the end of January, 2021. This has been a painful decision, especially in our 60th Anniversary Season.
Our utmost concern is for the health and safety of our musicians, staff, and their family members. Please know that CVYO has a written Response Plan and Safety Procedures and as soon as we are allowed to re-open, we are ready to do so safely.
We know by the sheer number of registrations and emails we've received, that our musicians want to get started too.
Thank you for your support and dedication to CVYO,
Luana Cherry, President
Musician auditions and placements:
Musicians-your auditions have been reviewed by our Directors and orchestra placements are being determined now. You will receive an email informing you of your placement soon. Once rehearsal resumption is determined, we will schedule a short in-person interview with each one of you to discuss the results of your audition.
The future of CVYO:
Being a smaller non-profit organization, we rely heavily on tuition and fundraising to maintain operational costs and fixes expenses. This includes compensation, insurance, storage, memberships with ASCAP and BMI and many other ongoing costs. While CVYO is not able to operate, grant opportunities have been delayed and customary donations have dwindled. Because of the forethought of our board and staff over the past, CVYO has saved enough to cover operational costs through the end of January, 2021.
We consider every musician and their families, past and present, members of the CVYO family. Being a part of the CVYO family, our staff has agreed to take significant cuts to their compensation to remain on retainer, and they are ready and willing to resume at any time.
Tuition and Semester Fundraising:
Regarding tuition and semester fundraising, we are very sensitive to the fact that the spring, 2020 tuition and semester fundraising was not refunded, and that many of our families are experiencing financial hardships. Please know that once we resume, tuition and semester fundraising will be prorated in accordance with the length of the semester.
Once we resume, we encourage any family that is experiencing a financial hardship to contact us to make arrangements. We want to keep our musicians playing!
How you can help?
However, if your family is able to make a donation, CVYO needs your support now more than ever. And remember, your donations are tax-deductible and are eligible for employer match opportunities.
Our wonderful organization is fragile. After serving the community for 60 years with a unique program for musicians, countless performances, and unparalleled community outreach, we are doing what is needed to ensure the future of our award-winning organization. With your support, CVYO will have a bright future for another 60 years!
