Hello everyone,
We've got lots to share with you!
On Monday Aug 9, at 11am, we will be going Live on Facebook with Lynne Bard of Beyond Rewards to discuss what we know about what we can and can't ask and mandate around vaccines in the workplace and in businesses. Submit questions ahead of time to [email protected] or join us Live in the comments section! The replay will be available to watch afterwards as well.
Last week we held our first in-person ribbon cutting in quite sometime! You can catch the replay here. We are thrilled to welcome Greener's Detailing Auto Care to the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce and to the local business community. Stop by and meet owner Ryan at 9-820 Gartshore St., Fergus.
On August 18, we are very excited to be returning to the Grand River Raceway for our annual Local Biz Night. A fun night out with your team and with the business community. Dinner is included, we will have a reserved area on the new GrandWay Patio, and will enjoy a dedicated race at 9pm and official group photos! To register, click here. Very limited space remains!
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, ideas, etc, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Stay safe everyone.
Sally

What’s Your Wellington County?
Whether you're a newcomer, a longtime resident, operate a business or support organization, we want to know what it’s really like to live and work here.
The County feels strongly about helping to establish a community where all residents embrace and celebrate the diversity of the whole community and as a result feel welcome, valued and respected to participate in the social, cultural and economic life.
This is why we are conducting the Welcoming and Inclusion Assessment to understand the extent to which Wellington County is welcoming and inclusive. We have developed two surveys that will help us understand the specific opinions of Wellington County’s newcomers and residents, and its businesses and organizations. Each survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Through your participation we will gain valuable insights into the areas where the County can better support our community and local businesses and organizations in their talent attraction and retention efforts.
Respondents will have the chance to win a $100.00 gift card from local Wellington County Businesses.
Survey open until August 6.

Government extends COVID-19 benefits and business supports to support stronger economic recovery
As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, the Government of Canada announced the extension of crucial COVID-19 support measures for Canadians and Canadian businesses in recognition that uneven economic reopening across regions and sectors means workers and businesses continue to need support.
- Extending the eligibility period for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy, the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy and Lockdown Support until October 23, 2021, and increasing the rate of support employers and organizations can receive during the period between August 29 and September 25, 2021.
- Extending the Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB), the Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB), and the Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB) until October 23, 2021.
- Increasing the maximum number of weeks available for the CRB, by an additional 4 weeks, to a total of 54 weeks, at a rate of $300 per week, and ensuring it is available to those who have exhausted their employment insurance (EI) benefits.

Tax Increment Equivalent Grant: Elora South Inc.
Council approved the Tax Increment Equivalent Grant application submitted by Elora South Inc. The proposed development of the Elora South site is expected to increase taxation assessment value from $2 million to approximately $130 million. Based on 2021 tax rates, this equates to additional annual taxation revenue of over $475,000 for the Township and over $900,000 for Wellington County. While a portion of this tax increment would be provided back to Elora South Inc. over a 10 year period (for each phase) in the form of a TIEG, the Township and the County would benefit significantly in the long term from this additional assessment and taxation.
The TIEG Program offers grants to property owners whose property taxation has increased as a result of the “substantial” development, redevelopment, or rehabilitation of an eligible building or property.

Donate Blood in Fergus
The monthly blood donation event in Fergus is coming up on Thursday, August 26th at the Fergus Legion 1:30 - 7:30pm. Nationally we are seeing a steady increase in the demand for blood as medical procedures pick up again and folks resume their active lives. To support the increase in demand locally, we have increased our collection target at many of our events, and we would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about the need for blood donors in Fergus!
