A Message from Dana Burdenuk, General Manager:
Good afternoon,

We're pleased to announce some of our Fall 2020 virtual events with topics including free WSIB resources and consulting available for small businesses, efficiencies and cost savings to help improve your business's bottom line, and resilient leadership. Check out the "Upcoming Events" section below for our September and October sessions and register on our events page. We look forward to seeing you there!

The COVID-19 crisis is having a disproportionate economic impact on women, with women’s labour participation rate falling to its lowest in 30 years. Some economists are calling this a “she-cession,” as more women have lost their jobs, and fewer women than men are re-gaining employment as the economy reopens. The Ontario Chamber of Commerce has released its latest report, The She-Covery Project: Confronting the Gendered Economic Impacts of COVID-19 in Ontario. This brief lays out a path to Ontario’s “she-covery” by offering practical recommendations to confront both immediate and longer-term challenges.

Recent reports from McKinsey and Company and RBC estimate that, by 2026, Canada could add in excess of $100 billion to its annual GDP by supporting women’s participation in the workforce. This number is simply too big to ignore and too important a piece in our overall recovery puzzle. Women’s active participation in the labour market is a prerequisite to a full and safe economic recovery. What’s in your plan? Read the OCC's She-Covery Project report here.

I'm excited to share our latest Member Moments video! I had the opportunity to sit down with Pam Stumpf, Owner of Refreshed and Refined, to learn more about her business, COVID management strategies, and her unique Chamber success story. Check out our interview here. Interested in participating? Email me at [email protected]!
