I just turned 50 and am using this milestone as an opportunity to look inward. I love a good list, so I decided to make a few of them, adding up to what I am calling “50 at 50”.

These lists include:

  • what I am grateful for
  • what I thought I would accomplish and did
  • what I am proud I have done that surprised even me
  • what I no longer require myself to do, including former goals I am letting go
  • what I still want to do/accomplish, including experiences
  • what I will continue to improve upon

We know that women often have a hard time celebrating ourselves, so these lists were a gift to me.

None of us are “perfect” or have the “perfect” life. I am not perfect. My life is not perfect. I struggle. I suffer. I have setbacks. We all do. Some might look at me with envy and others with disgust. Yet, I am proud of where and who I am. It is exactly as it should be in this moment. I am grateful for the life I have built so far, together, with my family, my friends, my colleagues and my extended community. As I look back over 50 years, I really am fulfilled. As I look forward to the next 50, I know that I will continue to be so. And that, in itself, is something to celebrate!

CWIB encourages you to do the same and celebrate your prior, current and future successes. Check out our Spring 2024 programming lineup to get started.
