John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This is the month that love is talked about and this verse is about the greatest love of all. God’s love for us is why Christian World Outreach exists today. Because He loved us, we want to demonstrate that love in physical ways giving us the opportunity to share John 3:16 and change lives with the Gospel.

Showing God's Love Alassane and Dina are great examples of this with the young ladies at the Village of Opportunity (VOO) in Burkina Faso. They treat these young ladies as if they were their own daughters. As they give the ladies an opportunity to learn a vocation in the sewing, cosmetology and now culinary classes, they demonstrate Christ love by caring for them. They take time to listen to their life stories and to comfort them. They meet some of their physical needs by taking care of their medical and other needs that arise while they are at the VOO. Because of this, the young ladies are willing to listen to what is shared at daily devotions and times when Alassane and Dina share the Gospel with them individually.

Orokia Kabore Orokia Kabore is one of the young ladies whose life story was heard by Alassane and Dina. Her father died when she was very young, forcing her mother to move the family in with her uncle in 2018. Orokia’s mother died later that same year. Orokia was devasted. Her uncle decided to offer Orokia in marriage to a much older man. Orokia was only 15. She was traumatized after losing her parents and being forced into marriage with a much older man. One of her aunts went to the local pastor and shared Orokia’s story. The pastor partnered with CWO’s Village of Opportunity, shared Orokia’s story with Alassane and Dina. They made a plan to recruit Orokia to the VOO and she is now a confident and outstanding VOO student. Praise God for how he gave Orokia a better life!

Helping Single Moms Grow Spiritually Single Moms Raising Sons (SMRS) Bible studies and Men Molding Men Camps have also given the opportunity for moms and boys to hear the Gospel and be discipled. The Bible studies being used in South Africa and the US have brought together women who share the common life situation of raising their sons on their own. Bringing these ladies together has given them the opportunity to share their hurts and difficulties and also to share about a God who will never leave them or forsake them. For some of these ladies it is helping them grow in their faith and for others it is an opportunity to hear and receive the Gospel.

Thembi Thembi who is a student at Denver Seminary, receiving her counseling degree, and co-author of the Bible studies being used in the SMRS ministry is a single mom of two boys, who are actually young men. She has said that being a part of the Bible studies herself has helped her grow in her faith. She has also shared how she has seen that coming together as single moms has allowed them to heal and receive the Gospel. She looks forward to returning to her home country of South Africa after graduation to be a part of the growing ministry there.

Men Molding Men The Men Molding Men Camps give an opportunity for the boys of single moms to be taught and mentored by men who want to share about a Heavenly Father who will never leave them. What a great opportunity for these boys to do fun activities, learn life lessons and hear the Gospel. One of the boys who attended a camp said, “Even though I do not know my father, I am happy that I attended the camp with boys who face the same challenges as I do, but at the end of the camp, we all learned that God is our Father who will never leave nor forsake us.” Another boy said, “I wish I can get another opportunity to attend the next camp since there is more that I want to lean and share with my younger siblings.”

So, as you think about John 3:16 and God’s love for you, please pray for those who are hearing the Gospel through the CWO ministries and for those who are leading the ministries. Praise: For sending His Son to die for our sins. For the opportunities God has given us to demonstrate God’s love in physical ways so that the Gospel can be shared. For those leading the ministries in Burkina Faso, Haiti, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Prayers: For the safety of the CWO staff in Burkina and Haiti. For those who hear the Gospel, that they may hear the Good News and accept it as their own. For Thembi as she balances seminary work with leading SMRS.
