It is always amazing how God leads and connects people. From the beginning of Christian World Outreach God has led where He wants us to be and brought people together to do the work He has planned. This is true of the small group of people who went to Haiti in the late 70’s establishing CWO, adding African countries in 1999 through 2000 and again this year adding two new ministries. About two years ago, I met Rajeeve at a men’s Bible study I attend every Tuesday morning. It did not take long for Rajeeve and me to connect. Once he learned that I was part of a mission organization he began to ask a lot of questions about establishing ministry. This came from his longtime heart’s desire to minister in his home country of Sri Lanka. Every year when Rajeeve would go to visit family there, he would seek to find those who had a heart to share the Gospel. Rajeeve did find others who also wished to help people in Sri Lanka with physical needs giving the opportunity to share the Gospel. Serving now on the ground there is Theeba Subaiyah who is tutoring the children, Tissa Sathianathan (Rajeeve’s father) who is doing administrative work and Bavan Saravanabavan who is serving as the ministry leader in-country. I have had the opportunity to meet Bavan on a Zoom call and he is so very excited to know that we at CWO would want to join him and his wife in ministry.

As we begin the ministry in Sri Lanka our goal is to help children with education needs like the we did last month, giving them school bags and shoes. Bavan is mentoring young men, helping them grow in their faith so that they may become disciples that become leaders in their communities. We are also meeting the physical needs of the widows by providing some much-needed food. Our hope is to also build one house for a widow this year. Last summer I received an email from our former Zambia missionary saying she had met with a lady I should meet with about a “much needed” ministry based in South Africa. I soon met with Thembi who is currently getting her counseling degree at Denver Seminary. As Thembi and I met we found that we had other connections as well. Thembi has a mentor through the seminary and they had been praying that God would provide an organization she could join. That mentor is a good friend of ours who we have known for years.

Thembi has co-founded a ministry called Single Moms Raising Sons (SMRS). Thembi’s passion to help single mom’s first know their Heavenly Father so they can direct their sons to their Heavenly Father quickly became evident. This passion comes from her own experience as a single mom who is raising two sons. The goal for SMRS is to provide opportunities for single moms to join Bible studies and other events to help themselves grow spiritually. Thembi has already completed creating the first Bible study as part of her seminary classwork. The other goal is to give young boys and men the opportunity to know they have a Heavenly Father who loves them. These opportunities will be given through camps and events, helping them build Godly character.

We thank God for connecting us with Rajeeve and Thembi and for the opportunity to join in these ministries. We look forward to seeing how God works as these ministries become established this year. Thank you for praying for us as we follow God’s leading and build the relationships needed to continue on.  Serving Together, Greg and Laura

Praise the Lord for: His connecting us with Rajeeve and Thembi. Providing for the CWO ministries financially. The opportunities to continue ministering in Burkina, Haiti and Zimbabwe. Prayers Those serving in Sri Lanka as they establish the ministry. Thembi as she continues her counseling studies and develops more Bible studies. Pray for those in Zimbabwe as they continue to serve under strict COVID restrictions.
